Charlotte keeps losing jobs... if TWC deals goes thru it will cost another 5,000 jobs in Charlotte area. If market tanks this year as projected, it will be a disaster for Charlotte area. I'm keeping my options open,,, might have to relocate to another state this or next year...

It's a good thing you're not overreacting about this.

I have yet to work with a cable/internet company that didn't try to screw me on a monthly basis. I signed up for uverse, negotiated like 72 bucks a month for internet and 200 level tv package. First bill comes, its 97 dollars. They promised me 6 months of free HD television, i got 13 days and when I called them up they had no recollection of that promise and refused to add it. Basically dared me to pay the contract exit fee. Every month I have to scan my bill like a lawyer over a will to see if anything has changed. I never did get my bill down to the 72 dollars we agreed to over the phone. They need to do a federal investigation because the entire industry treats people like crap and they get away with it because there is no alternative.

Cable TV is damn near obsolete anyway. No way I'm paying $100+ for a bunch of bullshit channels I never watch.

Eventually they may let you pay for the channels you want. But if you think the giant cable companies are going to lose the battle to streaming internet, you're crazy. They'll adjust. TWC (before merger) was already in talks to work with Netflix to get Netflix as an add-on. Cable TV as we know it, might get a facelift, but it's going to continue to be the mainstay.
