Time Warner is no more...

The worst possible market to be monopolized continues to be monopolized.  Comcast is freaking terrible.

It took 3 technicians and 2 visits to a service center to just install and start my internet/cable last year.  They came with the wrong non-HD box twice and I had to keep the wrong boxes bc the technicians wouldn't take them back.  The good thing was I got a 120/month plan for 55/month as a discount but the speeds are capped so bad I couldn't even use my apple tv outside of netflix.  Good thing I'm moving to DC and getting FiOS

Comcast has been so much better than TWC whenever I've had it.

If you're worried about data caps or that 300 GB/ month isn't enough for you, then you need the business class stuff anyway. (note: the average household uses less than 10% of that 300 GB limit)

Most likely the same crap customer service workers you have right now will be the same crap customer service workers you will have when Comcast takes over. The name of the company makes no difference. If you have shitty people where you live and you treat them like poo because they are customer service and work to help you, then you will get shitty service.

Comcast has confirmed a deal to acquire Time Warner Cable for about $45bn (£27bn), creating a company that could control three-quarters of the US cable industry.

Comcast will pay about $159 per share for its rival in an all-stock deal.

The deal comes after Time Warner Cable rejected a $60bn bid from Charter Communications last month, calling their offer "grossly inadequate".

Wait wut?

comcast is the goddamn devil. had them when i lived up north. they lie to your face then charge you for poo you didn't even want.

Totally. The bills gradually go up month by month.

I don't see how this can be approved after reading the bbc article posted in das thread.

i've never actually had someone lie to my face like that before than add 60 dollars to my bill for something i didnt want. then they charged me to take it off. then when i refused to pay they alerted the credit collectors.

i've never been rude to anybody like i was to the lady that i talked to on the phone about it. told them i was never going to do business with them again and would tell everyone i knew to stay away from them. she hung up on me.

absolute disgrace of a company.

$15 bn more is groslly inadequate?  Most likely it was less money and more stock.

edit : well crap nobody said time warner was smart.  Comcast deal is all stock.  Had dealings with them in 2000 when they bought Turner.  They was lost.

This is an all stock deal.

But yeah the structure was probably different, tax considerations etc

Charlotte keeps losing jobs... if TWC deals goes thru it will cost another 5,000 jobs in Charlotte area.  If market tanks this year as projected, it will be a disaster for Charlotte area.  I'm keeping my options open,,, might have to relocate to another state this or next year...
