You think Hardy saw Michael Bennett's remarks on a "discount"?

Jesus some of you need to get a grip.

Hardy is a phenomenal player and extraordinarily versatile as well. This "oh well he didn't have 5 sacks in a game the whole team laid an egg in" poo needs to stop. He is worth every penny of whatever he gets, and the only reason we won't sign him is because we have billions of dollars invested in people that don't play, don't produce, or aren't even on the fuging team anymore.

Stop hating on the guy because he produced and wants to get paid. If you need to belittle his contributions here to make you feel better about his leaving, then you need help and need to get over it already.

Look at his IG account. He posts negative articles and poo dumb fans say all the time. He's checked out of here and it sucks, but we need to just accept it and move on.

If you lurk on this board Greg and read this, thank you for your contributions to this team, for your leadership, your attitude, your craziness, and your effort. You deserve the contract you get and it's unfortunate my favorite team won't be able to re-sign you at the price you're going to command. Good luck and I hope you go to a team I don't completely hate so that I can continue to root for you as an individual.

Two ideas of thought. Do I want to be the best or do I want money. There is a player at every position that gets paid the most, and most of the time that player is on a bad team. Being selfish has its rewards but it also has its down falls. I really dont care if Hardy stays or goes, he is one piece to a big puzzle. If we sign Hardy to a huge contract next year and he breaks his leg then we are still without him.  Bennett seems like a selfish asshole to me, if he underperforms to his contract does he give that money back? Or what if he gets injured for two years of his contract? Will he give back half that money or more? Hell no he will not do any of that. So why should teams pay him a premium price when he did nothing more than take advantage of a good team.

At this point, I just hope we get compensation when he's gone.

It won't be much. Just picture yourself as the GM of a team. Would you give up a 1st or 2nd for a great player on a 1 year deal at 12 mil? I wouldn't and I don't think most teams will. Look at what dwight howard did for the lakers. They gave up high round picks/players for a 1 year deal in hopes to resign him. He left for houston after 1 year.

Unless you have alot of money and you are a big favorite to win the superbowl next year there is little incentive to sign a 1 yr high priced mercenary.

Do teams pay more to a player if they overperform? Because Hardy has been overperforming compared to his contract here for 2 years. Should we give him millions of dollars extra now as compensation for what he did over the last two years?

And who are you saying that took advantage of a good team?

Gettleman knows we will get a 3rd comp pick if Hardy walks. If he can get a better deal with a trade then he has done his job. No way can we pay what he wants. Gettleman said we will be in cap hell for a least 1 maybe 2 years and no way will he put us deeper in the pit. There will be several options let to him with the draft or bringing in a vet with a little more tread on the tire. Maybe Peppers will want to come back home for 1 more year and retire a Panther where he first got his start. He left for the money, but people might forgive him if he returns and does a good job. He might be our first HOF plsyer and Smitty our next.

I can't speak for everyone else.....but I don't hate on Greg Hardy.   Hope he comes back.

It's hard to dispute that he and his agent are playing games though.  Best of luck to him.

He wouldn't have put up the kind of numbers he had this season if it wasn't for CJ, Star, and the rest of DT rotation though.  Frank Alexander or Addison would have been pushing 10 sacks if they would have have started.

Like I said, Greg Hardy is a great player.  He will be missed, just not as much as everyone thinks.

Hardy has overperformed for two years. The other two he hardly played and had to learn. I think I would call that a even deal, especially with him violating his contract with riding a sports bike. The Panthers could have fined him a good bit for that.

So bad example, and thanks for playing but you lose.

Hardy's salary until this year has basically what you would pay a good depth player (and this year he's just making what you would pay a mediocre starting DE), so the other two years he was not getting overpaid, and the past two he has been playing like someone getting paid 10 times what he's making now. It's nowhere near an even deal.

Besides, you didn't answer my question. Taking Hardy out of the equation completely, do teams pay players extra after the contract is over if they outperform their contract? Are the Seahawks going to pay Wilson the millions extra he should be making before they have to give him a long term deal?

and another thing you should realize, that a DE does job consist of more then just getting sacks. Greg is a complete DE on all phases of the game. i used to harp about how he would not read his keys in play-action or outside runs, but he has really stepped up in that department. this guy went from being a top 5 pick to being drafted in the 6th round. to being a rotational pass rusher, to a starter with potential, and now a stud pass rusher. he has played himself into as much money as possible.

Russell Wilson is a good example.  Here's a guy that has out performed is contract exponentially.  But he's made a lot more money then his on paper salary if you just look at endorsements....mainly from Xbox1, and he'll probably be on the next Madden cover......whatever that pays.

Greg Hardy has definitely earned a massive raise, but he's only been dominant for 1 season.  If he thinks he deserves a high contract because he thinks he deserves back pay...well....bye.

Lets not forget he was playing against a rookie back up against the Saints.  He got shut out in the first match up.  Without that game against the Saints we're not even talking big money.

Anyway he needs to send Terron Armstead a nice watch or something.
