Everyone does realize that RB is a need right?  It's bad enough that we've over payed an 800 yard back and an oft injured back.  It sucks, but it's still a need.

 

Saying it's a "need" is one thing. 

 

Saying we're going to pass up guys like Robinson and Benjamin for an RB, in the first round, is another.

We may draft a RB-just not in the first.

As for bashing CD for suggesting it, Stew is.often hurt and DWill will be a 31-year old June 1 cut. Maybe he is thinking we will do as we have done, which is not stupid if you cover 32 NFL teams and about 75 college teams. You look for patterns.

We know that we are not going to draft a RB in the first round, but there is reason for him to suggest we might-look at our history.

I met him once, and he is a genuinely nice person. He also knows more football than anyone on this board. Mock him from your parents' basement if you want....

Didnt look at the mock yet, but I'm betting it goes something like this:

[Looks at D-wills espn.com profile. See he's 30. Notice he had on 4.2 YPC last season. Then look at Stewarts profile. Notice he only played in 6 games.]

"The Panthers need a strong running game to contine to support the development of quarterback Cam Newton. With Williams aging, and Stewart unable to stay healthy, it's time for them to move on. A power back like Hyde would fit the Panthers system well."

How close was am I?

Edit: not that far off, he actually gave even less explanation lol.

 

Honestly any team period would be insane to draft a RB in the first now...but it might be the most insane for us to do it

that wouldn't be a bad analysis except that you can get a power back later. I am intrigued with Andre Williams but would not take him before 3rd and probably 4th or later is more realistic. As far as RB's go I like Marion Grice and see him as a 3rd or later pick.though not a power back I like his pass catching ability.
