Huddle opinion....cut Godfrey resign Mitchell multi year deal

I like Mitchell and would like to see him back but...if we work something out with Hardy, he becomes the more expendable of our top on-roster FAs.

With Godfrey, I don't see him starting for us again and we save a good chunk by releasing him this summer.

If we sign Hardy to the kind of long term contract that he is seeking, Mitchell would be only one of the better players we would have to watch walk. Not even mentioning the impact it would have on Cam Newton's contract, and our ability to put adequate pieces around him on offense.

We all like Hardy, but the inevitable outcome is right around the corner.

How many snaps did Mitchell and Godfrey actually play together? Cos we basically shutout Seattle week one apart from Thomas getting burnt deep like a douche. And I'm sure Godfrey went down in the first half in buffalo with the bills not scoring a lot of points either, so how do we know what sort of combination they would make at safety?, Godfrey looked good in that streak at the end of 2012-13 season.

Forget Mikell. Lester is just as good or better than Godfrey and costs a lot less. If Mikell doesn't return and we don't sign anyone else, I'd rather start Lester beside Mitchell than Godfrey. Godfrey is just terrible in coverage. Mitchell is better in coverage than Godfrey too fyi.

Mitchell is a great leader.

Godfrey waa really beginning to shine at free safety before injury. He also hasn't gotten to plau behind our front.

Not sure how well he'll comeback from injury,

But a safety tandem of mitchell at strong safety and godfrey at free is pretty exciting.

You still have Mitchell's leadership, which I believe can help Godfrey play even better.

I personally think Godfrey would have flourished this year if healthy. He's always had to do everything in the back end & was out of position most of his career. Godfrey with the front seven we had this yr who really knows, but I always thought Godfrey was pretty good fir the lack of talent around. The injury scares me yes, but if he takes a pay cut it makes since to keep him at least for another yr. Sign Mitchell to play SS. Get another yr for Lester to get experience & then hopefully step in Godfrey place & draft Dixon from Baylor
