Oklahoma State's Marcus Smart Pushes Fan In Stands

Unless your life is in danger, violence is never acceptable. Period.

I don't care if someone calls you a racial slur, talks about your mother, anything. Using that as an excuse to be violent is just that; an excuse.

I really doubt the man said the n word or anything else racially motivated. He probably was just talking trash like everyone else does towards players and Smart snapped. Of course he would accuse it as racism, otherwise he looks like a complete head case.

It's funny so many people are dismissing the fan's word that he didn't say anything offensive but automatically believe a 20-year old who acts like a petulant child and slings chairs around and physically assaults people.

I also find it humorous that the same people saying the fan should act like an adult and not call him names and hurt his feelings openly talk garbage about Brees and other players. Smart is an idiot and made himself look like a fool.

And for the record, I'm a minority. I've been called racial slurs, teased, mocked. Still not a reason to be violent. People should really quit using racism as a crutch so they can show hate, animosity, and violence towards others. Their life would be more pleasant without so much hate bottle up.

I've seen Smart taunt opposing fans numerous times after making a shot, winning a game, etc. How many of them got butthurt and physically attacked him? It looked to me like he can dish out smack talk but he can't take it.

It should not be considered routine, or acceptable for one to go to a sporting event just to behave like a belligerent jackass toward athletes, or "talk trash" as you put it. Which this guy has made quite a habit out of doing apparently.

Both guys are wrong.

The fan was being a fan. Im not sure if he used a racial slur at this point but lets not act like fans dont talk trash to players. It happens everywhere and all the time. But, for a grown man to act that way when Smart fell down is out of character.

Smart is human and hes going to react. It was wrong on his part and he shoud have known better. Theres no way he was going to hide being on national television.

At the end of the day, both guys were punished.

This may or may not hurt Smart's stock. Some believed before this incident that Smart was already falling a bit. Id still be glad to have Smart here.

Marcus Smart has taunted and ran his mouth to fans in the stands on numerous occasions.

If he's gonna act like a bitch when a fan talks back he should keep his damn mouth shut.

Did this guy come to your house, kick your door down, and take a dump on your floor or something?

Did he give you an amazing blow job or something?

He acted like a jackass yet you still have your tongue shoved up his ass.

Neither of us know exactly what was said between the two. As I said earlier in the thread, there are more conflicting reports than there are real facts about the incident right now. This fan does have a history of this though, and you've repeatedly either ignored it or downplayed it . Smart is 19 years old, the fan is at least in his 40's.

Nobody is absolving Smart of any wrong doing, but a grown man twice his age should be conducting himself better as well.

Also, someone typing anonymously behind a keyboard about some other teams quarterback is not the same as actually going to a sporting event, and going out of your way to berate athletes, and incite a physical altercation.

Yelling "warm up the bus" "you suck" etc is the equivalent of berating someone & inciting a physical altercation? Because the law of averages say that's probably along the lines of what he said. The man goes to all their games, home or away, if he was saying racist things someone would've went after him much sooner.

Hyperbole, overreaction much?

Yeah this is the first I've heard of Smart losing his cool. I don't watch a lot of OSU basketball though so I could be wrong.

It's now confirmed from major media outlets that the fan did not use a racial slur. Both people were wrong here. However, a strong argument could be made that Smart should have been suspended the rest of the season. He's getting off lightly IMHO.

This wasn't even the first time he lost his cool this week. Dude was slinging bench chairs at a game a week ago.

He didn't say either of those things. Supposedly he called the kid a piece of sh*t. Why is that necessary? If there is any hyperbole, or overreaction, it seems to be coming from your end. It sounds like you have something against Smart.

    • I just want somebody to settle into that Hangartner role and I may give Mays too much credit. He played so well early and has fell off since injuries crept into his vocabulary.  He was struggling to get push on those goal line runs today.
    • You cannot say it doesn't matter who is playing QB ever in any circumstance. The first two games of the season, Bryce was standing in the pocket with time missing throws left and right. We were running the ball well, but even the gimme throws Canales was setting up, Bryce was missing. Then you start Dalton, boom easy win at Las Vegas. By week four's end, three of our best defenders are seriously injured, center injured, 2nd best veteran WR hurt, and best veteran WR quitting on the team.  Canales is a rookie head coach, and he definitely has had some see what sticks moves. But players are being schemed open, the rookies are progressing nicely, and you have the albatross of some terrible lack of talent to phase out. I give him credit alone for pulling Mingo, Thomas, and going with the better/younger producing players. The scheme is better, he just needs better players and I am not going to write him off until he gets more talent, starting with QB!
    • I don’t want this to be another Daniel jones situation.
