Does Cam have an asking price?

Is it really being debated if we should keep Cam or not right now? Wow. What is the alternative?

Cam is not Joe flacco

I thought many of us made it clear that we are keeping Cam. There is one who thinks he's worth 8-9million though and anything more we should let him go.... Not sure what that's all about.

The Ravens had the opportunity to extend him before the 2012 season began, they gambled, it backfired.

One Super Bowl win doesn't warrant being the highest paid QB in the league... Peyton makes $15M next year and Flacco will make just over 20... The Ravens are idiots, or Flacco's agent is a genius. I have nothing against Flacco, I just think the Ravens were retarded to pay him that much money. He is not worth that much. The only two paid more than him are Rodgers and Ryan, which is part of the reason why the Pack and the Falcons have a lot of problems.

Did you miss the words "through the draft" in my post?

We have two heavily overpaid running backs clogging up our salary cap, one didn't even play most of the season, yeah we have Tolbert, and he's the only running back truly earning his money.

Steve Smith isn't the same Steve Smith that Jake Delhomme had.

We should have been grooming a replacement for Steve Smith years ago, or at least drafted a young receiver for Cam to grow with by now. Three seasons in, and all he has is Olsen, and Steve Smith who will be retiring within the next few seasons. Let's not even forget that signing of Legedu Nannee at receiver, oh yeah we've brought in such talent at wide receiver right?

The Ginn signing was smart , credit to Gettleman for that.

I love Gross, but the dude is past his prime, and may be retiring. We've got undrafted free agents who would be lucky to be backups on other teams starting on the right side of our OL right now too, the o line is in need of major help outside of Kalil.

Again, my entire point was about the draft though, to only have one starter on the offensive side of the ball (and he missed almost the entire season) through three seasons is abysmal. I believe Gettleman will do what Hurney could not though in that regard. Now is the time.

then go back through the drafts and attempt to make an arguement that we ignored receiver at the picks we had.

Good luck.

Well unfortunately that contract is going to set a precedent.

The Seahawks will be facing a similar situation with Russell Wilson.

how did the patriots have talent around brady.

How did Peyton manning have talent around him when he won hia ring.

How did eli have talent.

All of these top paid qbs had talent around them.

There will NEVER be perfect.contracts for the top players.

That is the challenge that all teams have.

They got to piece together teams with big and small contracts. It also requires execution, and a bit of luck.

I love how our own fans talk down our own talent in an attempt to.make thier points.

Good luck.

Please name a receiver who Hurney drafted that even remotely panned out long term on this team through all the years that he was GM.

The only one you could make even a slight case for is Brandon Lafell, and his maddeningly inconsistent play has him looking unlikely to even be re-signed this offseason over other cheap options out there.

It's called the draft genius.

Hurney couldn't draft a good receiver to save his life.

The Colts drafted T.Y. Hilton, and Coby Fleener the same year as Andrew Luck, and both are producing well for their team. It only matters if your GM has a clue on how to draft talent at the position.

That's why he isn't here anymore.

Are you kidding me? The Patriots won 3 Super Bowls when Brady was barely making a dime, and they won because of their elite defense. Brady was simply a game manager for those 3 SBs. Eli didn't have a lot of talent around him, that Giants team had team loyalty and commitment, and quite a bit of luck (actually a whole lot of luck). Those Patriots who lost the Super Bowl had 10 times the talent that the Giants did for both SBs. Peyton had some talent, but he really carried that team to the SB. And also none of those 3 QBs were paid as much as Flacco is.

Make things worse? You don't let a franchise QB walk.

It isn't Cam Newton's fault that Hurney poo the bed in building around him. We are where we are, and paying him, and building through the draft is a hell of a lot better than letting him walk, and starting back over again while we sit around stuck in mediocrity like we are the Cleveland Browns of the NFC South.

didn't say it was his fault but it is a reality. Paying him is fine ovepaying him is not and would greatly hinder attempts to rebuild other positions.if we pay him and don't upgrade around him we will be stuck. of course you don't let a QB walk, you get something for him.We are not limited to one option and all is not lost if we don't sign Cam.I know that is what most want and if possible do it but it would be a mistake to break the bank on him and leave nothing to work with for other players.
