Does Cam have an asking price?

This is what you really want to talk about. You say he's middle of the pack. Former gm's say he's the 4th best qb in the league. Espn has him as the highest rising qb. I think I value your opinion the least.

Stop trolling.

stop responding. I say what I think you don't like it ... it is Not trolling to speak your mind. i really don't care how much you value my opinion.I will still give my thoughts and not apologize for it.  For the record he may have the potential but he is not right now the 4th best QB and I am not the groundbreaker on that bit of news. neither am I a groundbreaker on the news that the former GM is historically known for his questionable talent evals but that is up for debate.

ESPN... not really the best place for listing the best of anything.

if you pay him so much you have to bargain hunt to surround him with supporting players then he is overpaid. that reduces his overall team value because the overall talent level will be affected.the ineffectiveness of a supporting cast inflates his rushing numbers as he has to scramble more. I would say his overall scrambling will go down if we upgrade the Off around him. That would be a welcome lack of production.

This goes back to our staffs inability to surround him with offensive talent while we had him on a reasonable rookie contract, like I said above.

Now it's time to pay, and build through the draft around our quarterback.

My biggest gripe right now with this organization is that we didn't do more to surround him with the necessary talent on the offensive side of the ball in his first three seasons while we had him on his rookie deal. One fuging starter on offense through the draft since he got here in 2011, and that guy was on IR the whole 2013 season (Amini Silatolu).

Now you are making a whole lot of sense. They tried, they just missed a bunch and who knew Stewart was going to be injured every year? They were not counting on that. One of my biggest disappointments was Otah who was a monster , we can't live on ifs but...

i agree with that. That's why I question the value now, that if it hamstrings us it is only making things worse.or at best only keeping things the same.We know nothing stays the same.

Make things worse? You don't let a franchise QB walk.

It isn't Cam Newton's fault that Hurney poo the bed in building around him. We are where we are, and paying him, and building through the draft is a hell of a lot better than letting him walk, and starting back over again while we sit around stuck in mediocrity like we are the Cleveland Browns of the NFC South.

I don't agree that Cam doesn't have talent around him.

One of the best receivers to play the game. While he isn'tn his prime, the panthers have also drafted and signed free agents to fill out the rest of the receiving core.

We have two starting quality running backs that have averaged almost 5 yards a carry most of theie career.

We have a playmaking FB. Something most teams don't have.

We have a very good TE.

All pro center, and LT.

PLENTY OF TALENT.

Cause ww don't have an elite receiver besides smith, we haven't put talent arround Cam.

Bullshit.

A lot of the stats you're pulling are irrelevant. Stewart didn't play. Smitty is no longer elite. Gross is on his last legs. LaFell is not a number 2. And te right side of our offensive line is non-existent.

Our offense is putrid. Anemic. A disaster.

Did you miss the words "through the draft" in my post?

We have two heavily overpaid running backs clogging up our salary cap, one didn't even play most of the season, yeah we have Tolbert, and he's the only running back truly earning his money.

Steve Smith isn't the same Steve Smith that Jake Delhomme had.

We should have been grooming a replacement for Steve Smith years ago, or at least drafted a young receiver for Cam to grow with by now. Three seasons in, and all he has is Olsen, and Steve Smith who will be retiring within the next few seasons. Let's not even forget that signing of Legedu Nannee at receiver, oh yeah we've brought in such talent at wide receiver right?

The Ginn signing was smart , credit to Gettleman for that.

I love Gross, but the dude is past his prime, and may be retiring. We've got undrafted free agents who would be lucky to be backups on other teams starting on the right side of our OL right now too, the o line is in need of major help outside of Kalil.

Again, my entire point was about the draft though, to only have one starter on the offensive side of the ball (and he missed almost the entire season) through three seasons is abysmal. I believe Gettleman will do what Hurney could not though in that regard. Now is the time.

Seriously?

Has there been anything official on how much money he wants to make per season?

No nothing official,i doubt his agent is going to broadcast anything until the Panthers and Cam get down to talking serious business. My guess is that  somewhere around $18M a  season would be a good ball park figure.

he is a middle of the pack QB and has been all 3 years.his passing yards have gone down each year and he was top 10 passing yards 1 time. His rookie year.it is impossible to have never made 20 mil in a season to avg 20 mil. over a career.

with all the stas you speak we went to playoffs once and that was only after we built a great D.We could pay him an outrageous amount but unless we have the money to get him help we will be about where we are right now or worse.

if that is all we can do then it is not woreth it and he is not worth it. If he is worth it then incentivise his contract  back up the Brinks truck to his house after he wins a SB.

So when Andrew Luck declares he wants to get paid 18-20 million dollars next year, the colts should trade him correct?

I don't agree with putting all of the struggles the Ravens went through this past season entirely on Flacco's contract. Stop being silly. Ray Lewis retired, Suggs left, they traded away Boldin for peanuts, and Ray Rice had a down year. Why are people acting like the Ravens only won two games all year? Even with all that they still went 8-8. Flacco isn't the problem.

It obviously wasn't ONLY his fault. BUT, if he took $16/year or around that then I would bet all my money that they'd have made the playoffs at atleast 10-6.  They would be able to upgrade the o-line, which was the main reason the offense was terrible. Ray Rice wasn't a problem, it was purely their o-line. AND they would've been able to keep Boldin, who would've been huge to keep for their offense. 49ers lucked out that the Ravens handed them Boldin. I still suspect it was a brother to brother thing after the one brother beat the other in the Super Bowl. Mama Harbaugh made John do it.

The Ravens had the opportunity to extend him before the 2012 season began, they gambled, it backfired.
