Has anyone seen and watched Enders Game?

Count me  in as someone who loved the book & thought the movie was pretty good. (though not up to the book.)

Side note. I got to talk to Card when my Dad & I were doing work on his house... Had no Idea who he was. He gave me my first copy of the book.

I enjoyed the book.  I watched the movie this weekend and thought it was a little rushed (story wise) but decent overall.

This.

Said in an older thread, that to insert all the subplots into Enders Game it would need to be an TV series. A 2 hour film is not long enough.

The growth of Ender learning how to be a soldier and leader is missing from the film. And achieving balance between Peter and Valenine. It just sort of happens. Needed something to provide a timeline. Gavin could have inserted a 2 min clip of Ender with Graff walking through what he's doing differently as leader of Dragon. Card had it in the book.

“To what, commander, do you attribute your remarkable success?”

“You gave me an army that does whatever I can think for it to do.”

“And what have you thought for it to do?”

“We orient downward toward the enemy gate and use our lower legs as a shield. We avoid formations and keep our mobility. It helps that I’ve got five toons of eight instead of four of ten. Also, our enemies haven’t had time to respond effectively to our new techniques, so we keep beating them with the same tricks. That won’t hold up for long.”

“So you don’t expect to keep winning.”

“Not with the same tricks.”

This and the opening chapter adult discussion where Graff and someone(?) from Fleet HQ were discussing how he was NOT going to stop the Bonzo from conspiring to main/kill Ender. Keeping of the theme that no adult was ever going to help him. He has to fight his own battles.

Haven't read the book yet, but I didn't think the movie was that bad. I enjoyed the overall story line, but felt they lacked developing some of the characters. It seemed just as they started to develop a little, it moved onto something else. Also, wasn't overly fond of Ford and Kingsley. Ford seemed to overact his part to me and maybe it's just me, but Kingsley brought nothing to the film other than an accent.
