One of the top LT in the league for years is not going to play for vet minimum. Why should he? A fair 2 year deal would be reasonable.

Vet minimum? Probably not. But a decent 2 year deal? Why not?

Guys like this allow you to keep the guys you really need to keep. Like Hardy, Cam, and Keek. Keep the bottom of your roster on the cheap, and you can afford to pay your stars.

The days of over paying are over. Gman will pay you fair market value. But...for most guys who get those contracts, that does not hinder your growth. It is the stars that cost you. And right now we only have 3 stars to worry about. You can take care of your stars, if you don't over pay for your bottom half.

I know folks think we can't afford to keep Hardy. I say, we very well can. We don't/haven't needed to pay that much to fill out the roster. We don't need to pay that much to pay our rookies. We should be able to pay for the few stars we have, and still keep the bottom of our roster filled out nicely.

Gross has been here for 12+ yrs.  Why would he truly want to pick up and go.  He appears to have been smart with his money and probably has a career in broadcasting so money won't be an issue with him.  He will want to get paid but I think we'll get him at a good deal for everyone.  He knows we are close.  Why go somewhere where they are midstream or worse.
