Bobcats Listed As Potential Suitors for Lance Stephenson

Disagree, Jefferson played the stretch four at times in Utah and can open up space for Monroe with his jump shot.

As for Turner, the link for the proposed trade mentioned a Henderson for Turner swap.

People really underestimate Big Al's jumper.

Because offense would be the issue...

Monroe is basically a young Al, probably his closest comparison. Both have PF size and skill, but in today's small-ball NBA both are more effective at Center.

They're great offensively and could no doubt coexist on that end, but they're similar in another way too... defense is half the game, and we'd be getting none of it with that combo.

Al has adjusted his entire life... he's played with Kevin Love, Paul Millsap, and Perkins, All guys that play a similar game to him but the thing with Big Al is that he is so versatile that he can play in the paint or he can play outside around the free throw line... it doesn't matter. If the Cats need him to stay down low so Monroe can roam around the free throw line there is no doubt that he would.

As far as defense, if you have watched any Cats games this year you would know that all the hub-bub about Jefferson's defense was mostly false. The only time Jefferson struggles is when he is matched up against a player that forces him to guard around the free throw line. He held Bogut to six points last night.

I watch most games...he definitely benefits from the team defense as he himself doesn't offer much. He has admitted as such.

Bogut averages 8. I like the guy and love what he brings to the team, but defense ain't it. You say he's done well being paired with guys like Love and Millsap, but not a one of those teams got out of the first round despite being very strong offensively.

He would be better served working with a PF with some semblance of a defensive game, which is why I thought the Gibson rumors made more sense than the Monroe ones. I'd like to try Biz next to him, but Clifford apparently disagrees.

The NBA is offense over defense... so I have no problem is sacrificing some defense to make our offense better.

As for the draft, I hope we grab some kind of shooter. Even if we do get Stephenson, he's only solid from three. Assuming we get a pick in the 9-12 range we should have some options:

LaVine (I can dream), Harris, Hood, Young, McDermott...maybe Hairston with the PDX pick.

Eh, I disagree there. Most of the top teams are stronger defensively. Just look at how we trounced the vaunted Splash Brothers and Golden State. Also the lack of success of Al's previous teams... and we're a much better team with MKG in the lineup.

- I could also point out how we got trounced by Carmelo and the Knicks... because when a team gets hot, it doesn't matter how great your defense is; you won't stop them.

- And I agree we are a better defensively with MKG, at one point we were second in defense this year but that doesn't matter if you can't put the ball in the hole (which Walker, Stephenson, Turner, Monroe, and Jefferson can).

- I'm not sure what you are trying to say about Al's previous teams (are you insinuating that they were bad because of Al?) because Utah and Minnesota sure aren't doing well without him.

- Just for you info, I did some research on Monroe's defensive efficiency stats and they are actually pretty solid (better than McRoberts).

The only thing I can see you being concerned about is the spacing between Monroe and Jefferson and like I previously mentioned; Big Al has played with Love, Millsap, Favors, Perkins, etc... and he has always adapted while still maintaining great numbers.

I really can't see a great argument against going after Monroe.
