Bobcats Listed As Potential Suitors for Lance Stephenson

Funny thing is, if the front office ever took my advice, we wouldn't need to outbid anyone else to get him...  I wanted to draft him the year he came out.

If the Pacers don’t address the Stephenson problem, there will be wolves with cap space lurking. The Lakers, Bulls and Bobcats will be among the teams who can and would offer an ample payday and increased opportunity for Stephenson this summer.

Trades

Trade Gordon and Biyombo to Detroit for Greg Monroe

Trade Henderson for Turner

Draft

Draft Willie Cauley-Stein with Detroit's pick

Draft Tyler Ennis with Portland's pick

Free Agency

Sign Lance Stephenson

Re-Sign Greg Monroe

Re-Sign Evan Turner

Re-Sign Anthony Tolliver (small contract)

Re-Sign Chris Douglas-Roberts (small contract)

Re-Sign Jannero Pargo (small contract)

2014-15 Hornets

PG: Kemba Walker, Tyler Ennis, Jannero Pargo

SG: Lance Stephenson, Jeff Taylor

SF: Evan Turner, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Anthony Tolliver, Chris Douglas-Roberts

PF: Greg Monroe, Josh McRoberts, Cody Zeller

C: Al Jefferso, Willie Cauley-Stein, Brendan Haywood

This scenario requires MJ spending up to the tax but in my opinion, that could be a top three team in the east when it's all said and done.

If somehow Charlotte could get this done they would have around 33 million dollars to sign Stephenson, re-sign Turner, and re-sign Monroe before going over the tax.

I'd start MKG over Turner, who is more of a 2 than a 3 anyway.

With Walker, Stephenson, & Jefferson on the court you've already got 3 guys who can score a ton of points. MKG is the best defender on the team, he'd fit better there than a volume shooter.

Plus, you'd have Turner's scoring coming off the bench.

Also, I will strangle Steve Clifford if Cody Zeller is 3rd string behind Josh fuging Mc bum ass Roberts next season.

That would work as well

And unfortunately I think Clifford will start McBob over Zeller because of his love infatuation with him (for some odd reason).

Monroe would be a terrible fit next to Al. I'm also not crazy about Turner since it would likely involve giving up a pick (and taking away our cap space to keep him in Free Agency) for a pretty lateral move.

Of the guys we've been linked to, I can get behind Stephenson and Gibson though.

Disagree, Jefferson played the stretch four at times in Utah and can open up space for Monroe with his jump shot.

As for Turner, the link for the proposed trade mentioned a Henderson for Turner swap.

Soooo....we cut Hendo, move Taylor to a 2, and keep four SFs? Hmmm......

Moving Taylor to the two would be the easiest position transition in NBA history, you make it sound like it would be impossible.

AT can play the three and four, (which he has this year) which makes him a viable asset to the team (not to mention he is money from three.

CDR is just a bench player to fill out the roster, he wouldn't even be active for the games. He's just a body that would come cheap that could also come in and play if someone got hurt.

Not to mention, Stephenson would eat up about 30 minutes a game anyway and there is no doubt that Clifford would want to go big sometimes with a lineup of Walker, Turner, MKG, Monroe, and Jefferson at some point in the game.

We currently have two shooting guards... Henderson and Gordon... and four small forwards... MKG, AT, CDR, and Taylor (albeit he is injured).

    • Fans are fed up with this organization's endless string of failures. And, while Morgan's less than a year into his current position, everything he's done is barreling down the same path shat out by his predecessor. If we're just pointing out this alarming lack of discrepancy between the performances of two GMs, it's really not hating. He's just proving to not be a good hire. And, hey, it's alright, because whoever Tepper hires next will, at best, only suck a little bit less. I don't mind people who are optimistic and hope Morgan turns out to be better than he's been thus far. That'd be great. None of us are rooting for him to fail. However, the embarrassing pattern of decisions persists. And it's not a good look.
    • You have to view everything that was done in 2024 through the ‘eliminate excuses for Bryce Young’ lens IMO. It only makes sense that way.     If you allow for that, you will see that Diontae fulfilled his purpose.
    • The Panthers' beat writer called the Johnson trade return "a warm bottle of RC Cola." If you're quick to discount every bit of news that disagrees with your view, maybe your view is the problem. Morgan deals himself a bad hand and he deserves every bit of criticism for it. Fitterer was the worst GM ever, but Morgan is a very similar brand of awful. Certainly when it comes to trades since 2021, Morgan's body of work makes him at best, only one of the worst negotiators in the history of North American professional sports. That's simply pointing out the numerous shortcomings he's put on display. If I point at a guy who shot someone and say "he murdered a guy," I'm not hating on him -- I'm pointing out what he did. If Morgan wants to not be labeled an incompetent clown who makes 31 other franchises better, simply stop being an incompetent clown who makes 31 other franchises better. Or, wait until Tepper makes him the fall guy after Evero.
