Kiper believes we'll draft the next Steve Smith: Cooks

Polian...the guy who ran the the Panthers into the dirt drafting players like Kerry Collins and Rae Carruth, or the Polian that gets all the credit for no-brainers Peyton Manning and Edgerrin James?

Oh my gosh...smh

I agree that Polian's career was largely shaped by having the fortune of falling into Peyton Manning, but let's not forget that the man largely built the Bills' roster that went to 3 straight Super Bowls and likely would've gotten at least one or two rings if Thurman Thomas didn't turn into a perfect fumbling machine in those games.  And we did go to the NFC Championship game in our second year as a franchise under him.

Bottom line is that the man has over a decade of NFL GM experience, has made those evaluations, and has sat in those war rooms on draft day.  I'd much rather hear his input (or hell, even Matt Millen's) than a guy like Kiper or McShay who have no more credentials evaluating talent than posters on this board.

Though I'm a Polian detractor, I can agree with that.

As ex-GM broadcasters go, Floyd Reese was better,  Heck, even Mickey Loomis was good. Scott Pioli worked well at NBC but he's back in the game now (I forget where).  Wasn't a big fan of Charley Casserly.

Now, when Ozzie Newsome finally retires from the Ravens - which could conceivably be in the next few years - I hope someone gives him a job as a draft analyst.  He'd instantly become the best in the business.

The bills were awesome and I will give him credit for helping form the '96 Panther squad...but he jumped ship for a reason and then got fired from Indianapolis for a reason as well.

The last person I want to have to see anymore is Bill Polian...without Peyton and a masterful performance from Bob Sanders, he'd be Ricky Bobby's poster-boy for the greatest first place loser of all time...which he probably still is even with that 1 championship.

What a mess he left Carolina in. Worse than Hurney, that's for sure.

Yeah, I'm not sold on Cooks either.  We really don't need another small receiver.  Smitty is the exception not the norm.  I think Benjamin offers the most upside at the WR spot, even though he needs some polishing.   I'd be ecstatic if we got Benjamin, and signed Sidney Rice/Boldin.

Says "I model my game after Steve Smith & Deshaun Jackson."

There's a thread in the Draft Forum, good kid.

As far as the Midget comments.

3 of the Top 7 Wide Receivers in the NFL this year were 5' 10".

4 were 6' or less.

I think a sweet spot might be if we get an early 2nd in a Hardy deal but who knows.

Oh and Kiper/Person, quit reading my fugging threads.

He has the personality and character that I covet. He's mature, intelligent, well spoken and obviously talented. If we had a more accurate QB then I'd be all over this guy. However, Cam's accuracy is still evolving and a guy with a much larger catch radius would really play to our most important player's strengths.

I wouldn't be disappointed if he took him, but I think there are better fits than him.
