Team Attitude: "The status quo doesn't work"

Gett Dawg is a business man at heart, that's why.

I see him as a straight up football guy. He started as a highschool coach and has been in scouting until this gig. His underlings deal with the finance for the most part.

"The status quo doesn't work" is music to my ears. With Hurney in the past, I remember us having 20 or 21 of 22 starters coming back after a playoff season. I don't want us to fall in the same trap again. We need to see some turnover in the roster because if we are not getting better, then we are getting worse.

So the quality of our offensive line and wide receivers had nothing to do with that ranking?

I don't believe he made the best of what we did have, nor adjust for what we didn't. I don't think he did his job to a satisfactory level. Rivera obviously disagrees and knows more about the situation than me, I'm just saying what I thought as an observer.

I thought he did okay.

If we improve the offensive roster next year, we'll have more to judge by.

"Okay" is a perfect way to put it. He did do okay, but to me okay doesn't fit in with "the status quo isn't good enough." Extending the contract of someone who did okay, pending more to judge by, isn't going to propel you out of the status quo.

If we improve the offensive roster, and are still ranked sub-20 on offense (like he has in every OC job he's ever had), then we've effectively wasted a season on a mediocre coach all the while preaching to the players that we don't accept mediocrity.

I say 'okay' because I have a tendency toward minimizing things when I speak.  I actually thought the playcalling was pretty good for the most part, especially given that the offensive personnel needs upgrading in spots.

I realize I'm in the minority on this front, but who knows?  Next year we might all be singing his praises.
