Asante Samuel released from the Falcons

It could revitalize whats left of Samuel's career.  This is a guy that has some familiarity with the system and comes from a hated division rival.  His knowledge of ATL's offense could prove more valuable than his his play which is still an upgrade over anyone on our roster playing CB atm.

I'm not sure how much he'd actually know about the offense. It's not like he's sitting in their meeting rooms. He'd be able to tell us much more about the defense.

no, I am not. Just saying, the guy is old and heading towards retirement. what they saved is about normal for a probowl CB. IF they thought he could go another year etc, they prolly would have kept him. Carolina should avoid this like the plague. Also Gettlemen has already stated he doesnt want 21 free agents every year. I dont see them signing him.

He also went on to say that having that many FA each year is becoming apart of the game and where it's headed with the new CBA.

Do want

well...not having 21 FAs, but still more than you would have historically.

until the cap goes up quite a bit from the TV deal. we'll be seeing a lot of guys on 1 year deals just like we did this past one.

i don't think that we'll have 21 again, but there will still be quite a few. many FAs in the market, just like this past one, will ask for one year deals under the impression that the next year will be the year that they can get a better multi-year deal.

samuel just makes too much sense. already knows the system and still has a good bit of talent. we pretty much know what we have with him and it would be a quick boost that would allow us to concentrate on other areas of improvement.

I really don't see what other people see in munnerlyn, to me he's to small and unskilled to play a genuine corner and even at nickel he gets beat by qbs who go after him, to go to the next level we need to draft or pick up big tall powerful cbs not the likes of munnerlyn, thanks for all you have given to this franchise, but I really hope he does not come back next season

LOL that's ok then let's sign him to a six year 300million deal! Must only be me who wants two big tall physical corners rather than munnerlyn who gets burned by Ryan tannehill with ease and anybody else who wants to just toss it over his small body. Seattles corners make us look like we play with two of the smurfs back there.

88!!

Going against Matt Ryan everyday wouldn't reveal a tendency or two that AS could exploit or share with the rest of the D?

    • Because being a pauper in the NFL is still making a king's ransom. NFL vet min is roughly 18x the median salary in the U.S.
    • At some point I sense it's gonna create some hate and locker room cancer between these cap hogs and the rest of the players. When the top 6 or 7 players take 80% of the cap, the other 40 plus guys are gonna get pissed off, especially when they're still only winning 5 or 6 games. Why put everything on the line to play with guys who are only in it for themselves?
    • I am just spitballing here--let it play out and I will go to bed: Let's say Mahome's contract comes due and he insists on $100m per season.  Is there a team that would find the money to pay it?  Would KC? It was in 2015 (I think) when Cam was getting $20m and it was hard to grasp.  In the past decade, the price of a franchise QB has tripled.  Then the next QB bases his contract on the Mahomes deal.  The trend has been the last QB contract is the highest.  I see nothing to discourage that trend--Greed can destroy a league.  Personally, I don't watch baseball any more, and the NBA has a small group of about 8 teams that appear on national TV and they have players who make more than some eastern block countries.  Ticket prices go up---and we are headed for pay-per-view very soon across the board-
