So who is going to test drive a $60k Kia?

You do realize that Hyundai upgraded their product only about 7 years ago?  Or that they have some of the highest safety, quality, and approval ratings in the industry?

Nah...betting you don't.  We will just chalk this up as another in a long line of ill informed and flat our wrong posts that you make every day.

Carry on.

And you realize I really don't give a fug what you think, right? But a good belly laugh every time you respond to one of my posts is healthy.....

Then we are the same.  I don't..never have...and never will care what you think.

My 9 yo son makes more intelligent points and statements than you do.

And I'll ask again... so why respond? You sure give me a lot of time attention and print for not caring... so, yeah, right back at ya- I'll keep baiting and you keep coming back.

I could ask you the same....as you keep responding to me.

For me, I actually can't help myself.  Reading your incoherent and minimalistic drivel is like passing by a bad wreck.  No matter how hard you try....you just can't help but look.

Kia vehicles are just as good as Ford, Chevrolet, Honda, Toyota, etc. Just like all the high end vehicles made by those companies are just as nice as anything made by BMW or Mercedes.

Vehicles are no different than clothing, shoes, electronics, etc. It's all about the name & brand recognition. I could name 100 sets of headphones that are cheaper than Dre Beats (which suck for the money) & have them beat in quality 1,000x over. It's all about status.

Most people would take a BMW with 150,000 miles over a brand new Kia.

I disagree with some of these statements.

1) a Kia is just as good as a "Toyota and Honda"

What do you mean by "good". I own a Toyota and rent hyandais and kias when I travel. The reason Kias are cheaper is because they use cheaper parts vs what other companies use. For example, on the hyandai sonata, their is a plastic gas cover panel, vs on a Camry, they use metal. That particular part may not be a big deal, but what makes me question these manufactures is what other products did they go cheap on when manufacturing? A Toyota can run for 250k+ miles, it's been proven over and over. I can't say that about Kias.

2) when you say "Most people would take a BMW with 150,000 miles over a brand new Kia.", I don't agree

BMW, Mercedes, Audi, and most luxury brands (not including Acura and Lexus) require a lot of maintenance by specialized mechanics. Typically the parts required are very expensive as well. Personally I would take the cheaper car where there will not be expensive, constant maintenance....but then again, I'm not most people so you may be right.

hyundai/kia's business model is so muddled

I've always seen it as one where they enter the market as a low cost leader, establish a recognized brand, then create product differentiation with reliability. After they become a staple in the market, increase the expense of the product with the increase of amenities and reliability. Hyundai would have never been able to sell a car at a price comparable to  the Toyota Camry of Ford Taurus in the 1990's, but the Hyundai has cars in that price range now. Kia will do the same thing.
