UPDATED: Confirmed. Bobcats Exploring Trade for Evan Turner

Latest word is that Evan Turner isn't expected to be traded by the deadline, philly was holding out for a first round pick and no one has offered it up to them.

Also based on what Bonnell is saying, Cho has a bit of input on trades but not much.  Cho's main job is scouting the draft, most decisions are still mainly Higgins to make.

lol, here's what I was talking about for those that haven't seen it.

https://twitter.com/rick_bonnell

@rick_bonnell Who is really in charge when it comes to trades/personnel decisions: Cho or Higgins?

@ahura23 I'd say more Higgins than Cho. Rod has been a good trader.

@rick_bonnell What! Then what is exactly the function of Rich Cho for the Bobcats?

@ahura23 I didn't say he has zero input on trades. But much of his job is scouting the draft.

And I don't completely buy what Bonnell is saying here.  I respect Rick, and he IS the beat writer for our team, BUT, I just don't think Higgins has been at the helm over the trades we've done since Cho has been here.

To me, there is a marked difference in the trades that happened before Cho was here, and the trades that have happened since.  We got worked over a majority of the trades we made prior to Cho, and we've unanimously came out on top of virtually all the trades we've completed since.

I understand the system. Cho's input on trades is to smack the poo out of Higgins if the deal is horrible for Charlotte.

Bobcats main focus in trying to trade for Turner was to improve the SF position. They aren't really sold on either MKG or Taylor and want to get someone in at the 3 that can shoot the basketball and put up more points.

Going into the trade deadline week the word is that the Bobcats are looking to improve at the 3 scoring wise. So if the Turner trade never happens, It's likely you'll see MKG moved during the period leading up to the draft. The team is wanting to upgrade at the 3 and was willing to offer MKG to Philly for Turner. Philly just wanted expiring's combined with first round picks though, so they would get a better early pick plus a few later first's.

Which is why the Turner move is absolutely STUPID.  He isn't a shooter, and is limited in range.  An offensive jack of all trades, but a master of none.  He's a limited offensive player, who's pretty good at a lot of things, but not really good or great at any.

You want offense, and EVAN fuging TURNER is the guy you target?

Hopefully, we did give up discussions with them.

Hopefully, I mean if the team wants to give up on MKG.... Fine... Trade him for a first (I'm sure there's a playoff team that would take him on to be a glue guy and offer up a first in return.

Target an scorer in the draft at the SF position and go from there.

To actively target a Sf who isn't known as a shooter when you're looking to upgrade at shooting...is absurd.

I would love it if MJ just did the right thing and fired Higgins and gave Cho an opportunity to actually run the full show for a few years. If it doesn't work out, move on and get an actual GM and not a yes man type of guy.

Yeah, as the old saying goes, there are way too many cooks in the kitchen.  These rumors just don't make any sense at all.

And it baffles me that we, as fans, can sit here and dissect these rumors from every angle and KNOW whether it is good or bad, and yet, our front office still pursues them.  Some of these are so stupid, they should never have even been discussions in the first place.

The problem with MJ running a team is that Higgins is always there with him. They do a very good job of ruining teams together.

I think what most are forgetting with Philly's situation is that they already have 6m in space and an open roster spot. They wouldn't want BG unless they got some major return on that. That's just for Charlotte sending them BG and them taking him, much less them sending back Turner.

The only player's I've seen available that make sense for the Bobcats are Barnes, Thompson, Ariza and Afflalo.

To get anyone of those players would likely take both BG and both the first round picks that Charlotte has available. For Barnes and Thompson you're looking at giving up a combination of MKG, Hendo, Tolliver, Bizmack, Zeller and both first round picks.

It would likely take Tolliver, Hendo, Sessions/MKG and Detroit's pick to pry Barnes or Thompson away from GS.

Just saw something interesting on SI.

Kyle Korver for Gerald Henderson straight up. They feel as I do about Kemba, Henderson and MKG.

They also have the Bobcats acquiring Turner and Hawes from philly.

Basically the Bobcats in two trades give up Henderson, Gordon, Taylor, portland's first, and Charlotte's second round pick for Kyle Korver, Evan Turner and Spencer Hawes.

Thoughts? http://nba.si.com/2014/02/17/2014-nba-trade-deadline-trades-greg-monroe-evan-turner/4/

Here are the trades as a massive 4 team deal. http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=mk8b79v

Under these trades Charlotte's new lineup would be

Kemba/Sessions/Pargo

Korver/Turner/CDR

MKG/Turner/Tolliver

McRoberts/Zeller/

Jefferson/Hawes/Biz

I think if you're going to go for broke, then why not actually do it and just make that a three team deal. Give Philly the Piston's pick, a future draft pick and the 2nd round pick and pick up Hawes, Young, Turner and Korver. http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine

Plus, it’s becoming increasingly clear that the trio of Walker, Henderson, and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist just doesn’t — and may never — command enough attention on the perimeter to keep defenses honest. None among them is even a league-average three-point shooter, though Walker is closest and Kidd-Gilchrist is otherwise Charlotte’s most promising individual defender. That makes Henderson the odd man out for both his and the Bobcats’ sake, as no one in Charlotte is much empowered by lineups devoid of floor spacing. Korver is something of a one-man fix in that department, with the passing skill and defensive competence necessary to round out his contributions.
Charlotte does seem to have taken a liking to Turner, though, and while I don’t love the fit I’m willing to play along provided we can bring Hawes to Charlotte to be a stretched-out, souped-up version of Josh McRoberts. He’s the better value and the better player of the two, and the real reason why the Bobcats would theoretically be willing to part with a first rounder in a potential deal.
