Eric Decker Going FA

This statement is not helping your argument. How many catches did Decker have? You see how Smith fight those CBs every Sunday. It's a war out there for the #1 WR.

My argument is that Decker is a legit starting WR who has a nose for the end zone. You guys are trying to act like I'm staying he's a top 10 NFL WR. Richard Sherman is the best CB in the NFL right now according to many. Manning was bad last night and was trying to force the ball to Thomas. That whole offense never got going.

I can't even have a conversation with someone who is completely illogical. If Decker wasn't putting up as good of stats in the first six weeks with those guys in the field and his stats improved when they weren't on the field then how in the fug can you argue that those guys' presence was creating opportunities for Decker?

His stats improved when the other targets were a focus and when some of them missed time. What is illogical about that??

You have to take what you can get when you can get it. Why would you pass on a good #2 simply because you lack a #1? That would be idiotic.

And we have the same thing we had this year. A lot of number 2' and 3' on the field and the 26th ranked passing offense.

We don't have a lot of #2s and #3s. We have a bunch of fringe roster type guys and one elite WR past his prime. That's just the truth.

Honestly, I think fans get too caught up in the #1, #2, #3, etc. BS. The way you guys are quantifying #1 WRs, there's probably only about 10 of them in the league.

I doubt his stat line is going to make him feel much better about his team getting blown out in the Super Bowl.

I'm sure he won't but no one can claim he wasn't out there and he was getting smacked after every catch but he took his lump and caught the ball. For me, it's not so much that he caught 13 balls but the fact that Peyton only trusted him. When the moment got tough Peyton got tunnel vision and only saw D.Thomas. That says a lot.

Well if we're talking on the roster now. You're right. My problem is the thinking Decker is a number 1. If he can come here a take number 2 money and play that role (which he won't anyway) I'm happy about that. I just don't want to end up with a Alvin Harper situation. Bringing a number 2 guy in and trying to make him a number 1.

It's the money he's going to command that repel people. I think we would have been a way better team with him in the line up this year. But to reach for him financially wouldn't be smart. We're not getting him for cheap.

I don't think anyone has any idea what you're arguing. You've been all over the place in this thread. Seems like you're just throwing mud against the wall desperately hoping something will stick.

I think you're trying to hard to make my simple opinion and reservation about Decker harder to understand then it needs to be.

Plain and simple

IMO

He is a good to great number 2 WR that benefited from being in a pass heavy attack offense with multiple weapons around him.

If he was brought here. He would be looked at and paid  like a number 1 WR (which I don't think he has the talent to become) and not be as effective in our balanced offense with not as many weapons around him.

I see him as a Alvin Harper/ Robert Meachem type. Looks real good as a 2nd or 3rd option. But not good as a 1st option.

Looking at the stats trend 1st 6 weeks

http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/gamelog/_/id/13271/eric-decker

Decker has 34 rec. 2 Td 477 yards

http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/gamelog/_/id/5941/wes-welker

Welker has 37 rec. 8td 378 yards

http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/gamelog/_/id/13216/demaryius-thomas

DT has 37 rec. 4td 528 yards

http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/gamelog/_/id/14204/julius-thomas

JT has 31 rec. 7td 381 yards

You can see at the start of the season Welker and Thomas was the red zone scoring threat and DT was the big play WR. As the season went along and more focus was on them 3. Decker got off a little. Then Welker and JT starting missing games and DT and Decker got off.

So my point again was. That Decker benefited in a pass happy offense with multiple weapons that demanded more attention then him.
