Hardys probably walking....what do we do to fill the void

This is the new NFL...get used to it.  Too many upcoming contracts over the next 3 years to cripple our franchise for a player that produces 80% of his sacks in 20% of his games.

Vote for Gettleman, he will make all of your dreams come true.

I think the thing that is being ignored is though he may not have gotten sacks in all those games he was still hurrying the qb and taking on double teams. Greg hardy has a motor and is a factor in every game

i don't think Hardy is as near fired up about bolting as some believe. I think he wants to stay and if we make a reasonable offer he will stay even if offered more to go somewhere elese. I don't believe he would base his choice merely on who gives the most.

That would be great if that was the case but I doubt it will be. He'sggoing to walk and make probably the most a DE has made in the NFL. I doubt there is much loyalty when it comes to the business side of the NFL.

Sad truth: Successful teams lose good players to free agency on a fairly regular basis.  They maintain success by being able to replace them.

Now honestly, we are not a consistently successful team yet, but we did have a successful season.

The bigger question is how many teams other than the Patriots jettison players coming off their rookies contracts who had breakout seasons and are only trending higher. And jettison their best DE in the process. At running back I can see it but it often takes years to develop a top DE and they are typically highly coveted in this league.

As for the patriots how has that worked out for their defense? They are finding out that even with Brady and a very good offensive system that you can just plug anyone in there even in a sucky division.

I hope not.  I'd really prefer Richardson leave the football decisions to the people he's hired to make football decisions.  He had a puppet in Hurney and look how that all worked out.  He used to always say that Hurney would be his GM as long as he owned the team.  Obviously his thoughts changed on that.  Hopefully he learned that he needs a real GM and not just a puppet to do his bidding.

I am sure that Gettleman isn't anything like a puppet and makes most of the decisions. Still he is the boss and unlike many owners he does know football and played in the NFL. He also knows that his time is somewhat limited to win a Superbowl. The team window may be just opening but his window is unfortunately closing. I can totally agree that if he wants to win now then Hardy is a critical piece.

There is no reason we cant sign Hardy and Newton to long term deals this year. Their cap hits will be minimal this year and by the time they escalate we have dumped the bad contracts. Giving guys who produce good xontracts is not the same as paying Stewart a ton of money to ride the bicycle all season.

i don't see that happening. Maybe that's why I think we bring him  back.inhave no inkling that he is in line for the biggest DE payday ever.
