La Fells Replacement is already on the roster

it would be foolish to proceed forward as if the answer to the WR dilemma is already on the roster.

it's a nice idea, but we don't have the next victor cruz on the roster. cruz was a fluke.

the answer is in the draft and in FA.

what we have now is an old guy and two guys who will spend the rest of their careers as guys most fans barely even know was on the roster and who see the field maybe 5 times a season...if they're lucky.

that's the attitude and perspective the personnel office needs to have currently.

if those two guys show something down the road...cool. we just should act as if the answer isn't here because what is here can't be counted on long or short term.

king and mcnutt have upside but if we settle for that and another signing like ginn its going to be this past season all over again.

100% agreed.

we have to set our sights higher than that.

cam needs weapons...and protection.

we HAVE to improve in both areas and we HAVE to score more than 20 points per game. the offense needs to be more prolific and aggressive. if that doesn't happen, we will most likely stall out the way we did this year.

sure, some things need to be sharpened up and improved on defense, but it's the offense that needs the attention this year.

the last three drafts the focus has been primarily on defense, despite cam's drafting in '11. aside from olsen and shockey, they've gone for cheap fixes on offense. that just can't continue. it's not sustainable.

we need balance. we need to get the offense up to the level of play that the defense is. we have the right QB for it. we have some good pieces in place to help make that happen, but we need more. more infusion of talent and more from the OC as well as what has been continuing and consistent improvement from cam.

this year we see just how serious this front office is about making this team a championship team. will it do whatever it takes or will it try to prove that some philosophy held by those making the decisions about the direction of the team are still relevant (which is what i believe was the case with fox/hurney).

Gentleman said as much on the radio today. That we have too many 1 year band aids and need continuity of the teammates. Someone in the draft section was told by mike craft that gentleman was "determined" to get cam weapons. Whether that is true or not I don't know.

Personally I would grab one of those big body tight ends who can block and catch. Helps the oline while also helping the passing game with our first pick. We were looking at a te last year with our first pick and the more I think about it, unless someone dramatically falls, that will be our direction. That te from Washington is perfect for this team. Huge red zone target at 6'6" and blocked some elite rushers well. He has a problem maintaining the block for long periods but stonewalls those guys initially. He has incredible body control and hands for a man his size at 270 lbs. reminds me of tony g

If the team wants to continue to keep up with the Joneses (not the Jerry Joneses of course) of the NFC and keep being a 10+ win team, they need to build on the young core (Front 7 probably minus Hardy and Cam) and immediately surround it with talent. After that's done, then you can start to put practice squad guys into roles.

mcnutt has insane hands. that being said we still need to draft a WR early if possible. and tavaras was a captain on georgia fwiw. crazy long arms.

Cam showed me a lot of confidence in McNutt's ability when he threw up that pass--out of bounds or not.  Gettlemen knows that in the salary cap era, you build the roster from  the bottom up, and this is shaping up to be true to form.

I think he will draft a WR, but I think we are looking for a #1 WR.

People overreact in my opinion. We have drafted so poorly at receivr since I can remember! A roster that a year ago has Smith Lafell Edwards Pilares Adams and Olsen on as our receivers SMH! This year id be happy with Smith Ginn Mcnutt King Olsen and two draft picks or 1 free agent and 1 draft pickup of say Nicks and then ASJ etc to add to what we already possibly have, it's progress people It takes time to build a potent roster and especially our roster because it's lacked so much offensive talent for so long it will be hard to see one again. Gettleman knows talent and a lot of hate I've heard about kugbila on this forum is uncalled for, he again will no doubt turn into a beast of a lineman!

Panthers WR Marvin McNutt was a pretty good HS QB.

After a 3-3 start to their 2005 season,Marvin  McNutt was named Hazelwood Central's new starting quarterback. He led them to six straight victories and into the state championship where they were defeated by DeSmet 38-24. As a junior, in seven games, McNutt threw for 1239 yards, 12 touchdowns, and four interceptions in completing 79 of 157 pass attempts. He also rushed for 76 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries, and caught two passes for 28 yards. He is also considered a division one basketball recruit as a shooting guard and small forward, and averages 20 points per game.

McNutt reports a 3.2 core GPA and a 20 ACT.

McNutt: "I'm athletic and I throw pretty hard. I'm working on my mental awareness on the field. I do that by watching films, practicing with my coaches, and learning techniques and listening to advice when I'm at camps.

"I'm being recruited to play basketball from small schools, but I probably won't take up a basketball offer. My future is in football and if I go to a major college with a football scholarship, I won't be playing any basketball in college."
