La Fells Replacement is already on the roster

If being big and physically gifted were the only things needed LaMont Bryant would be the hands down best WR in the NFL.

Tony has brick hands and runs piss poor routes.

I think McNutt has a better shot of replacing Lafell. He showed good hands on that jump ball in ATL, just missed getting his 2nd foot in by half the foot

He didnt get either foot in. It was nice to see one of our receivers actually use there body but lets not crown this guy the next great thing because he made one out of bounds catch. It was a perfectly thrown ball, he really should have made the catch in bounds.

They kept McNutt on the roster and not PS for a reason.

They acquired King for a reason.

It takes a WR a year or two (in most cases) to develop.  After that, you know what you have for the most part.  We know what we have with Lafell.  He is a good blocker and catches a few balls when the DBs are focused on Smitty and Olsen and (sometimes) Ginn.  When Smitty went out, Lafell saw better CBs and disappeared.  That really bothered me  in a contract year.  Frankly, I am willing to go with the upside and go a different direction.

While nobody crowned anyone on here, take a look at McNutt's skill set.  Yes, that pass was out of bounds so you can't judge him on one play, but think deeper.  It was the only time Cam threw a ball up for grabs in the red zone all year---find another one.   That means Cam feels this WR has the size and leaping ability to go up and get it.   Another step in the thought process:  When Cam is inaccurate, where does the ball go?  High.

McNutt is still developing, but they kept him on the roster--even after acquiring King--for a reason.

Damn, dude. I was like "Who the fug is this guy?"

Being that I didn't know that he was even on the team, I doubt that he's the one to replace LaFell.  Bersin probably has a better chance. Don't bet any money on either one.

Wow, I'm still surprised that I didn't know about a receiver on the team.

mcnutt has insane hands. that being said we still need to draft a WR early if possible. and tavaras was a captain on georgia fwiw. crazy long arms.

Perfectly thrown out of bounds.

it would be foolish to proceed forward as if the answer to the WR dilemma is already on the roster.

it's a nice idea, but we don't have the next victor cruz on the roster. cruz was a fluke.

the answer is in the draft and in FA.

what we have now is an old guy and two guys who will spend the rest of their careers as guys most fans barely even know was on the roster and who see the field maybe 5 times a season...if they're lucky.

that's the attitude and perspective the personnel office needs to have currently.

if those two guys show something down the road...cool. we just should act as if the answer isn't here because what is here can't be counted on long or short term.

    • And we just started playing competitive football. Now look we beat a decent team. We can celebrate winning, it will be ok…
    • It doesn't matter if you give him a new WR1. To do it you have to devoted MORE resources to him. At some point you have to stop or there's nothing left for the defense. Our defense looks like scrubs because that's what we've got because we've spent a shitload on offense. He got a 1st round WR and a shiny new RB in round 2.  Bryce had a couple of good games but we are not competing against the Chiefs or Eagles. They're headed to the playoffs with realistic SB aspirations and we're headed to a top 10 pick. Those teams have competed for an entire season where the Panthers have ummm... They've almost gotten to as many wins as Matt Rhule in a season.  Would you rather have Bryce or Lamar? Because we've spent more on Bryce and to build around him than what it would have cost to trade for Lamar.  This team can't get better when it's having to devote everything to making it possible for our #1 QB god to play average NFL football.  I may end up being wrong and Bryce may become the GOAT. But one thing you won't see me doing is flip flopping on where I stand every couple of weeks because he has good or bad games. I think Bryce is our version of Daniel Jones and I think we're going to fug ourselves pretending he's Pat Mahomes.
