They always do. There will be some weird scenario where so and so gets left out and they will adjust the system.

Say, in the first round, someone gets in a wreck, loses points and does not move on.  He holds a grudge and when the next round starts, he just knocks the next guy out of contention, all with one touch of the bumper.  You cannot have a bad finish if there are only 4 races per round.  Nascar is just stupid now

 

 

I agree. I just see teammates working together to take other contenders out in one way or another. We already saw that problem last year with teammates causing cautions by spinning themselves on purpose to help.

If you're going to make the last race the only one that matters with 4 drivers going for it all, they need to pull everyone else off the track. That way there can be no excuses about someone causing a wreck that knocks out a contender. I still prefer it the old way. Count points all season and the winner at the end gets the crown.

It's such a retarded system.

50+ drivers racing 36 races over 10 months with a champion decided by 4 drivers at one shitty track....

Here's how the system should be.... all races equally important, no chase...

-10 bonus pts for winner

-2 bonus pts lead most laps

-1 bonus pt lead a lap

1st- 43 pts

2nd- 42 pts

3rd- 41 pts

.

.

.

.

41st- 3 pts

42nd- 2 pts

43rd- 1 pt

And don't fug with it.

I still hate it.  After this week we will be just under 20% of the way through the season and yet we could have almost 1/3 of the postseason competitors already decided.  It would be like the NBA picking five playoff teams after sixteen games.  Also, any system that would have had David flippin' Ragan into the Chase is a bad one.

Remember the IROC series? They should do the Chase with that format. Draw for cars and starting positions 30 minutes before the race.

Well as it turns out I kind of like the new system so far. Putting so much emphasis on wins is risky but I think it is going to get more and more exciting as we run out of races where guys need to win.

 

Not sure about the chase playoff format.
