Chumlee is the scripted part of the show.  That show has fizzled out at this point in my opinion.

The old man is an insufferable old who has more problems delivering his scripted lines than the other guys. 

 

What's really funny is none of them even spend any time in the shop anymore. They close the store a few times a month to shoot the episodes and that's about the only time they're even on the premises.

also one of the few things that's close to legitimately true about the format of the show is the fact that chumlee really was a local stoner who backed in to a job at the shop because he knew the harrisons
