PJ Hairston's numbers against ALL teams...scrubs included.

43.1% FG (39.6% 3pt), 14.6 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 1.4 AST, 1.1 t/o

So basically, Hood's numbers against Top 25 teams are at least on the same level, or even better than, Hairston's were against ALL compeition. Got it.

Don't mention that Hood plays 33 minutes per game & PJ only played 23, I know it skews things.

I got my Masters degree from UNCC so I spent a ton of time there and I have never heard anyone call it Charlotte University.

Does not exist anymore, bro.

The school dropped UNC from their official name several years ago due to confusion with UNC-CH. It's now just Charlotte.

I hope you're joking...

ACC was 6-3 vs SEC in 2011

NCAA Tournament Bids: ACC-7, SEC-5

Wins vs top 25: ACC-10, SEC-2

Wins vs top 100: ACC-56, SEC-24

PER 40 shows how much a player contributes while on the floor. Sorry it shows that PJ was a more productive collegiate ball player.

That is not the year Rodney played at MSU.  The 2011-2012 season when Rodney played the SEC got 4 bids to the tourney and the ACC got 5.  Also the SEC dominated that tourney going 10-3 while the ACC went 6-5.

Really?  So their website is uncc.edu.  They never dropped the UNC from the university they just started calling the sports teams Charlotte 49ers.  Maybe you should spend a little more time on campus or at least check out wikipedia.

You mean like FG%? Which Hood led. Minutes don't exactly matter for percentages, and Hood leads all categories there.

Or Hood being the 2nd option? While PJ was the 1st option when he was in.

A lot of things can skew the argument to either side. Systems, coaching styles, playing time, etc. If Jabari weren't at Duke, imagine Hood's numbers then.

When PJ was getting starter minutes, seemingly began @ Duke and continued for 13 total games...

45% FG, 35.3% from 3, 18.2 PPG

So, even when PJ was getting starter minutes down the stretch...he was not the shooter (percentage wise) that Hood was.

Hood on the season, 51.1% FG, 44.8% from 3, 17.4 PPG

I'll take efficiency over that extra .8 PPG

I don't think we will even be able to compare their stats next to one another and be able to tell which player is better.  It's not an apples-to-apples comparison.  There can always be a "but" for either player.  Like...when PJ started starting last year he quickly had to become "the man".  He didn't get the benefit of playing next to the best player in the country.

I don't know enough about Hood to say which is better (I don't watch dook games so I can be the first one to post on Facebook when they lose like all my ABCer friends do with the Heels).  But here's what I like about PJ:  he's tough, he's got great size and strength, he'll take it to the hole, he'll rebound, he can shoot (he's tearing it up from the NBA range already), and he's got an attitude.  If he can channel his inner troublemaker and stop being such a moron I think he gives the Hornets the edge (attitude-wise) that they need.  Plus he's currently projected to fall late in the first where we'll be picking.

Yeah I'd have no problem drafting PJ. Would love it honestly. But I'm agreeing with the scouts and mock drafts on this one as it stands right now, and taking Hood. He's arguably been better than Jabari as of late. He can drive, obviously shoot, has great length and athleticism, and also seems to carry himself well on and off the court. I'd feel a lot better giving a guaranteed contract to Hood than I would PJ, especially if they're deemed to be the same caliber player.

I think we all agree that we need a good 2-guard and one that can shoot from the outside.  I love Hendo, but we need a shooter.  I think either one of those guys could become the starter - maybe not year one - but soon.  My thinking is, if the players are that close in comparison, which they seem to be, I'd rather grab PJ with the later pick than use the one that will be in the 10-15 range on virtually the same player.

I'm liking Gordon or Ennis with the early pick

Edit:  And we're already WELL over our quota for dook players on our team

I have to disagree, let's look at the leading scorers in the D league the last couple years.  2010 Ivan Johnson, 2011 Justin Dentmon, 2012 Chris Douglas-Roberts, 2013 Pierre Jackson.  Who are these guys?  The only one I know is CDR because he sits at the end of the Bobcats bench.

Although I think Hairston is going to be a good player I think Hood's game is all around better, especially on the defensive end.  Draftexpress has Hood going at #14 and PJ going #26.

You and other posters tend to separate the competition by league not taking into account what a lot of these guys did in college and how good they were...

CDR averaged 18.1 ppg at Memphis his senior year... Dentmon averaged 14.4 ppg at Washington, Pierre Jackson averaged 19.8 ppg at Baylor... the D-League is essentially college all-star's that couldn't make the pro's.

I'd rather Hairston play against that competition than the ACC this year (save Syracuse and Duke).

The Hornets already have MKG & Taylor. They don't need another small forward, they need a scoring guard. Hairston fits with the roster much better.

Hood is 6'8 200lb.

Good luck guarding NBA forwards with that scrawny frame.
