I watched a few videos of Matthews on YouTube. Not the highlights, but the full game tape against SEC competition.

That guy has it. He is willing to block, runs great routes, and aside from a few drops, he has some crazy potential. He's not going to light it up with speed, but I don't really think we need that. He can go up and make a catch, and his game speed is fast enough where he can get plenty of YAC. Just watch the videos of him against both South Carolina and Florida (2012, couldn't find any from 2013). Just watching those videos passes the eye test with flying colors.

I watched some similar videos of Robinson and Lee, against worst competition. I didn't come away very impressed.

i hope Ebron's stock skyrockets or he gets busted for meth or something so we can actually have some reasonable draft discussion this offseason without every idiotic ACC football wannabe Tarheel fan commenting "noepz none of dese playaz is good, gotz 2 trade up for teh Ebron, value brah" every time a prospect is brought to the board's attention.

Whenever someone says "we should draft him, he has "it!" red flags immediately go up.

He's got grit guys! and heart and stuff and he totally caught a few passes for 5 minutes after practice during the most important job interview he will ever have! WORK ETHIC RYT??

His value is indeed high, and it doesn't look likely that he'll be available at #28 anyway although only God knows that at this point. I am NOT a tarheel fan but I would jump at Ebron at #28 because the value of the TE is greater for our young QB over what is LIKELY to be available at other positions. I like ASJ better than Ebron though, as a football player.

Even money says they also get help for that awful D of theirs.

For sure!! I guess most teams will go for needs, I don't think the panthers are as desperate as some teams, I've done a few mock drafts the tackle position runs deep with not much between a 2nd rounder and a high 4th rounder although the elite five tackles wil go early, someone like a billy turner to a James hurst there isn't so much difference, I think we could easily snag two receivers and two tackles in the first four rounds and all of them be starters and upgrades on what we have

Might be a lot of hurt fans just like last year when we don't pick up a receiver in the first.  Unless a top 10 guy really falls, Gettleman said in a recent article that it is hard to find a receiver who can contribute right away.  He said a few guys this past year did but they are actually in the minority if you look at everyone who gets drafted in the first 2 rounds over the past several years.  If we are looking for a starter who can replace Smitty this year, it won't b a draft pick.  If we are looking for a starter who can replace Smitty in 2 or 3 years then that player might be find anywhere in the first 4 rounds not necessarily in the first or second.  Given that it is easier to find a lineman or even a corner who can come in and start like White last year, I really think that Gettleman won't be looking for a WR in the first.  I suspect he will pick up a guy or two in free agency.  As he said, you don't draft for need.  The best way to do it to find need players in FA so you are able to pick up the BPA regardless of need. That is exactly what we did with Luke when we thought our linebackers were set with Beason coming back.  We all saw how that worked out.

isnt it amusing how people take this self appointed pedestal of "elite knowledge" when they say we need a TE over a WR?

lol we have one of the worst recieving corps in the league and a top 7 TE and people act like theyve stumbled across some hidden knowledge that is unbeknownst to the general populace except you've got every wannabe smart guy GM on this board proclaiming it because we all know here at the huddle "BPA=safest player available" at draft time.

"but but but teh shockey packages =(((("

Couldn't agree more!!!! The clambering for Ebron or ASJ is understandable but not realistic, looking at how gettleman built the giants he started inside out on both sides of the ball, he's lucky enough to have DEs in place here so needed just DT .

I'm inclined to think if all the top tier receivers are gone we will go tackle possibly twice and although that may upset people look at the facts guys byron bell RT nope! jordan gross LT needs a replacement yup! As I said its deep at tackle and unless something falls to us I expect us to go tackle twice and a receiver in the first three rounds just on basic essential need and how gettleman likes to build, but that's just my guesswork lol.
