Deangelo Williams = Barry Sanders?

When he came out, I compared him more to LT when he was at TCU. That's still how I see him.

He is nothing like Sanders. I don't have Sanders as #1 all time due to the lack of ability to get that tough yard if needed, but he's no worse than 2 or 3...pending on your preference. Brown, Payton, Dickerson et al.

how about lets not try to compare them to anyone, then let them make a name for themselves. i have a feeling for the next few years people will be saying this new guy so and so kinda reminds you of deangello williams. i think that is just as good if not better. you are never going to be able to really compare these guys as you would have to get over the almost superhero image that people have in there heads of barry and that wont happen for a long time. barry left when he still was pretty good so you dont have that bad image of him sucking in his latter years to bring you down to earth like a lot of other stars in the nfl. the guy was incredible and i dont want to try to compare people to him as it would mean losing the memory of him being great.lets just hope we one day have a back that is in the elite club of superstars but lets not compare them together.

just my opinion.

D-Will is great, but let's not get over-excited. This is year 3 for him and only his first year being the main back. Let's not worry about comparing him to anyone just yet. He is a very good back and will only improve the next couple of years. Comparisons to NFL greats are coming in way too early though.

D-Will is good, hell he may be great - one day. But its way too early in his career to start that kind of talk. Ask me again IF he reels in a 1k yard season for the next 2 years to make it 3 in a row.
That's about how I feel. Deangelo is pretty fuging good, but Sanders, IIRC, had poo for an offensive line for most of his career.

I do think that Deangelo is in the top 3 of running backs today though. He just needs to string together some great seasons before he can even begin to sniff someone like Barry Sanders.

To the rest of the huddle- I'd just like to remind you guys that I've been here for three seasons now. Please don't judge me or any other Memphis alum against this guy.

I think many of us know you well enough to not call you out like the OP here. There always going to be fans who are blind & stupid. And there are other who are loyal to the team or player, but not a blind homer & have common sense. ;):D

adallastiger, please drop this poo. It's getting old & pointless. We love Williams ever since he has shown us he is the real deal, but we're not stupid to compare him to Sanders. I don't think he will ever be good as Sanders, but that ok. We only care about him scoring & helping us win. Thing is, Williams is Williams & Sanders is Sanders. Please end this comparsion for good, ok? You act like we all think Williams isn't that great with saying Sanders is better, when many of us praised him. Hell, he even broke our franchise record this year. That something to throw our support behind, so please end this. Just let it go already. :cuss:
