Deangelo Williams = Barry Sanders?

It's too hard to make a comparison like this. Sanders was almost a one man offense, but also defenses were a degree less athletic then they are now, so you can't say what he'd do now, or what'd DWill would do then.

You won't see the next Barry Sanders in the NFL for about 7 more years....and I quite literally mean Barry Sanders, his son Barry Sanders Jr. is a freshmen in HS now and is already making big plays. Just in time for us to draft him towards the end of Smash/Dash's careers.

you can't compare someone to a legend until they have done enough to be compared to the legend... that's like comparing a young, talented pitcher who has an excellent season to Nolan Ryan... you just don't do it. as I said in the other thread, Barry Sanders said it best himself in an interview when asked where he thought he would be viewed in comparison to the greatest RB's of all time... "greatness is not measured by what you do, but by how consistently you do it".

point, set, match.

Just to clarify, I don't think Mariucci was comparing Deangelo to Barry Sanders as a player, he was saying he has the same style of play; running style. I'm well aware that you can't compare a legend to a 3rd year pro and 1st year starter.

Apologies for not making that clearer in the first thread post.

if he can repeat this success over and over and over and over again, over a period of YEARS and not games at the PRO level, not some second rate college conference against mediocre talent surrounding him and opposing him, then we can talk. until then.....

Let Williams make it to the pro bowl a few times first.then let him run for 2000 yrds with no OL..after that when he make it as a first ballot hall of fame inductee then we can talk about him being one of the greatest of all times..Until then can we get some commonsense around here

Threads about players, instead of Teams....SUCK! The Panther are one of the best teams in the league, and you want to put a spotlight on one player. Sad & Silly.

Plus I haven't seen the Sanders/ Williams comparison in awhile. So I can only think that one or two people said it and you continue to run with it, thinking we all think that...
