Deangelo Williams = Barry Sanders?

I love Barry Sanders. His college stats were beyond reproach. It's probably true that DeAngelo is playing with a more talented team. And he probably had to try to win games by himself.

He was probably more elusive than DeAngelo, if that is possible. But he was NOT a between the tackles runner. DeAngelo can do both.

My going to Memphis does NOT mean that I simply say someone is best. That would not make sense.

But guys, look at the stats. Adrian Peterson has 100 carries more than DeAngelo. DeAngelo has more runs over 40 yards.

This is NOT a fluke season. Yes, before he can be truthfully compared to the great ones I agree he has to do it more than one year. Agreed.

But he is better than Barry Sanders, much more of an all purpose back.

Barry was amazing. I saw him come down to Dallas on a Detroit team that had little talent and beat the Cowboys just by himself. He truly was astonishing, no question.

You can't compare someone who's been in the league three years to a legend. You just can't. We ALL think DeAngelo is fantastic. He's having an amazing season. He still has a long way to proving he belongs in the same category as Barry Sanders and the like. I watched him in person at Memphis too. College and Pro are NOT THE SAME. He still has to prove he can have a spectacular CAREER before HOF running back comparisions can be made.

To the rest of the huddle- I'd just like to remind you guys that I've been here for three seasons now. Please don't judge me or any other Memphis alum against this guy.

Don't compare Barry Sanders and DeAngelo. DeAngelo is much the better back.

It is not even close. Now, I am not saying DeAngelo is MORE TALENTED. As far as moves and the ability to make people miss in the open field, Barry may have been better. But not by much.

You can't simply look at stats. Yes, Barry Sanders runs of 3, 2, minus four, minus 10, and plus 60 etc. might equal DeAngelo. But Sanders had NO power. He was ALWAYS taken out at the goal line for stronger runners.

Furthermore, he never followed his blockers and frequently left his quarterback in third and ten positions.

While it is a bit too early in DeAngelo's career to make comparisons, Barry Sanders averaged 4.99 ypc. Deangelo is over 4.9. He has gone from 4.1 to 5.0. and this year he is unconscious at 5.5.

Why do some of you morons live in the past. DeAngelo does not have to do this for five more years to be as good as Barry Sanders. He is only going to get better. It is obvious to anyone with eyes that he does things no one else does. Can you fluke your way into the best stats in the league. I think not.

Yes, Barry was great. Maybe the greatest ever in terms of moves. But anyone who would pick him to start over DeAngelo would be crazy, if you had to have only one back. Besides, DeAngelo's moves are just as good, or virtually so, as Barry Sanders. More and more comparison's will be made between the two as DeAngelo gets more exposure.

Stop with the idiocy that you can't compare him to Barry Sanders and Adrian Peterson. Ridiculous. I told all of you at the beginning of the year that he was the best back in the league. Stats back that up. And he does not fumble.

Its hard to compare anyone to Sanders IMO. He was a great back but never saw the playoffs. IDK he made me drop my jaw some time and so dose Dwill. IMO if they get a champ with Dwill running the ball we might be able to say the two in the same sentence but not till then.
