Fanspeak's On the Clock 2014 NFL Mock Draft Simulator

Mine was kinda WR heavy, but I tried to go for value:

28
OT TAYLOR LEWAN
MICHIGAN
60
WR DONTE MONCRIEF
MISSISSIPPI
92
WR BRANDON COLEMAN
RUTGERS
124
CB PIERRE DESIR
LINDENWOOD
156
WR MICHAEL CAMPANARO
WAKE FORREST
188
WR JEFF JANIS
SAGINAW VALLEY STATE
202
TE MARCEL JENSEN
FRESNO STATE

Probably should have gotten a corner when I went with Campanaro, but I couldn't help myself. Plus, I am reluctant to draft a small corner.  Jensen in the 7th is sweet.  Well, at least Cam would have some weapons.  I wonder what scraps at CB would be available in FA. Possibly, (dare I say) Deangelo Hall.

Second attempt.

#28 CYRUS KOUANDJIO. OT

Obvious need here and can play LT and RT

#60 LACHE SEASTRUNK. RB

Ok so why a RB? Dwill may be a June 1st cut and he and stew will be replaced soon, a great prospect to take over the mantle.

#92 AHMAD DIXON. S

Again a high pick for a position that's probably down the order of need, but this kid has to much upside and with Godfrey not here possibly, he and Mitchell would make a hard hitting safety combo.

#124 PIERRE DESIR. CB

Obvious need at corner for us and this guys a steal in the fourth round.

#156 XAVIER GRIMBLE. TE

Lower down the list of TEs of course behing EBron, ASJ and Amaro, but a safety blanket for cam and a good blocker to replace Hartsock is a must on this draft.

#188 TEVIN REESE. WR.

Ok better late than never but needs elsewhere and hope that receiver will be adressed with one in free agency i.e Nicks and the TE already taken it takes away the need to draft so early for a legit WR, this kid has some great analysis and scouts are seeing him climbing the draft boards each week.

#202 JEREMIAH GEORGE. ILB.

Ok why again I hear, with TD getting no younger and the lack of depth at re LB position, Kuechley, TD and Klein could do with some help and this guy has lots of upside for a late draft choice plus he's a seventh rounder so no big loss.

I didn't realize they had added in our 7th round pick (when I started playing with this, we didn't have a 7th for some reason...Colin Jones I guess?). This would also be a great draft for us:

92

OT JACK MEWHORT

124

Here's what I did:

R1 - ZACK MARTIN, OT/OG (NOTRE DAME)

COMPARIES TO: Logan Mankins, OG, New England Patriots - Mankins has been one of the NFL's most valuable offensive linemen since being selected by New England in the first round of the 2005 draft, and has anchored the Patriots' front line with top-notch instincts, toughness and versatility despite lacking elite athleticism. Martin exhibits many of the same traits, and should draw first-round consideration.

R2 - AUSTIN SEFERIAN-JENKINS, TE (WASHINGTON)

COMPARES TO: Marcedes Lewis, Jacksonville Jaguars - Like the former UCLA Bruins star, Seferian-Jenkins unique size and hands made him almost impossible to cover in college, especially in the red zone. Less than elite speed and fluidity, however, makes Seferian-Jenkins more of a traditional security blanket over the middle rather than the Jimmy Graham-like seam threat so en vogue in today's NFL.

R3 - STANLEY JEAN-BAPTISTE, CB (NEBRASKA)

COMPARES TO: Brandon Browner, Seattle Seahawks - Like Browner, Jean-Baptiste combines size, ball skills and surprising fluidity to intrigue as a super-sized cornerback. Browner only re-emerged as an NFL player in recent years, however, after languishing in the CFL in part due to a lack of straight-line speed inconsistent effectiveness as an open-field tackler. Should the light turn on for Jean-Baptiste, he could stick in the NFL. Without greater reliability as a tackler, however, his time in the league could be short.

R4 - JIMMIE WARD, SS (NORTHERN ILLINOIS)

If nothing else, this pads for the possibility that we could lose Mitchell in FA.

R5 - DEVONTA FREEMAN, RB (FLORIDA STATE)

Thinking about an immediate replacement for one of the members of Double Trouble with this pick.

R6 - TY ZIMMERMAN, FS (KANSAS STATE)

Doubled-down on safeties with this pick but Zimmerman projects as a FS while Ward projects as a SS and this will provide needed depth at the position when we make Godfrey a June 1st cut and create 5.1 million in cap space.

R7 - WALT AIKENS, CB (LIBERTY)

Hometown kid (not why I drafted him) with good size in the Seattle mold.
