i'm awful at public speaking so i feel for the guy. But that doesn't mean i can tell my employer that i don't wanna do it when the job calls for it. It's part of his job whether he likes it or not.

This^^

I understand his anxiety, but it is part of the job.  He signed a contract and is part of a CBA that requires him to do the interviews.

I know it's part of his job, I just hate the entitlement today's media feels like they have. I would play the juvenile repeat game with them until they got tired of talking to me, or give one word answers out but I would cooperate and do the whole mandated hour.

Press: Montsta, how do you feel about being here at the Super Bowl?

Montsta: How do you feel about being here at the Super Bowl?

Press: what's the best part about New Jersey?

Montsta: Sopranos.

Press: Um ok, but they aren't real.

Montsta: Really?!? [insert sarcasm]

Press: are you excited to play?

Montsta: yes.

Press: do you feel like you guys can win this game?

Montsta: yes.

Have you done any sight seeing since you've been here?

Montsta: yes.

Press: what did you see?

Montsta: sights.

Eventually they'll move on to someone else when their boss asks them what they got at media day and they say five words.

Public speaking is the number 1 phobia in the country.  It affects 10s of millions of folks.  People usually do 1 or 2 things about it. They either picks careers which don't require it, or overcome it by doing it regularly.  The problem with avoiding it is that you never face your fears so it never gets any better.
