Rivera signs 3 year contract extension

Maintaining continuity...the guys seem to like and respect Rivera. That means they'll play better for him, themselves, their families and their fans. I think that for the first time in a long time, Panther players has bought into the system. And for the first time in a long time, it feels really good to be a Carolina Panther fan...

They were still solidly behind him when we were 1-3. I'd call that a good sign.

One of our resident Twitterists should go look for player responses.

Here you go...

@DeAngeloRB: Well deserved!!!! RT @AdamSchefter: Panthers announced HC Ron Rivera has signed a three-year contract extension.

@gregolsen82: Congrats Coach Rivera. Well deserved. Continuity is so important in this league. We are built to win for years!

I can't remember, what did we all conclude of the camera shot in the Arizona game of some of the players laughing after Rivera yelled at them all when they were trailing and we all thought that was Rivera's final try to light a fire under there asses. Wasn't LaFell one of the guys laughing?

Now lets hope he doesn't get complacent and starts coaching like poo again.

It's not just on Rivera either. We have never had back to back winning seasons. Everybody will have to step up and prove that 2013 was not a fluke and that the Panthers are a team to be feared for a long time.

yea i know, like even in 04 our players were behind Foxy after 1-7 and we finished 7-9.  eventually though, players get tired of hearing the same ole same ole.  can he keep it fresh throughout the years.  will he still take those risks that proved he believed in our players(or as someone else mentioned did it because of fear), regardless none of us knows how it will play out in the future.  all-in-all, the right thing was done.  at least one possible distraction is taken off the board with the future of the coach decided already.

The Panthers did more with less than any team in the league.

Brady at least had a decent offensive line

Panthers played the teams on their schedule and did well

If the coach is blamed for losing he should be praised for win ing

Players and coaches say it is hard to win one game. He won 12. Give him a break.

Bellinchek and Carroll have each been fired a time or two....remember that.

Well done Panthers.  Getting this done so quickly is statement.  Well deserved by Rivera.  He has grown into the job...that is one of his best qualities.  He is willing to evaluate his performance and make changes.  Unlike some....I think he will continue to try to grow and improve as a coach.

This also seems to say Rivera is happy here.  Hope this is a very long happy relationship.

By the way, for all the negative posters in this thread....RR has been named coach of the year by every organization that has announced. Could you imaging the laughing stock this organization would be if they did not extend him or only extend for a year?  No chance anyone wants to play here.

Ron earned this.  Love that it got done.

If the numbers are true (4-5 million) Riverboat is paid in the 12th-18th range amongst Head Coaches in the Marc Trestman, Mike Smith, Chuck Pagano range which i think is totally fine for what he's done this year and how the players seem to respond to him, considering schmucks like Shanahan and Jeff Fischer get paid 7 million i think the price is pretty good

It might sound simplistic, but Rivera having had a long (and successful) pro football career himself goes a long way with the players.

They know he's been where they are and felt what they feel.

behold the horse.

a noble creature by its design, useful, a companion to man, a bearer of him in battle, a farmer's friend, wild on the plains, majestic, glorious.

all horses have inherent flaws. for instance they poop. their poop stinks. but no one cares because all horses do that.

however, some horses poop more than others. and some horses poop on you. sometimes you're just standing there and all the other horses didn't poop on you but that one horse just blew its poop straight out its horse butt and all over your new pacsun shirt and the joey bag of donuts you just got at moe's. and that just fugs up your day. but even that's forgivable because sometimes the best horses blow poo everywhere and fug up your day but every once in a while you've got that one horse out of millions that does that all. the. fuging. time. blows poo all over you every time you're in sight. blows poo over you and everyone else in the area, in fact, fuging up everyone's moe's and everyone's pacsun shirts and even all over all the other horses, up in the oats and water and poo, all over the sawdust and all over the kids taking pole jumping lessons in the indoor arena behind the main stable and making them cry and making their moms cancel lessons and bankrupting the owner's enterprise.

where this metaphor leads us is that superjthegreat should be made into glue

When i started reading, I felt certain the phrase "horse's ass" would appear somewhere in this post
