i work with so many transplants and of course they laugh at the south and snow. i always tell them it's the transplants who think they can still drive in the snow that get out there and wreck. meanwhile Jim Bob is at home eating grits and watching Mayberry reruns.

I seriously doubt we get more than 6" near Wilmington, but like I said, there is precedent for a lot more... in 1989, life stopped for a week. I lived about 30 miles west of Wilmington and we got 22" at my house, Wilmington got slightly less.

Yeah, I was telling people today that I seriously doubt it snows more than 6 inches anywhere in NC.

I'm banking on having classes cancelled Wednesday up here, since it'll be in the 20's all day Wednesday, so snow and ice wont melt in time for classes. Can't have that hazard anymore, some student died a couple years back whilst driving to class on an icy road.

Mount Mitchell gets a couple feet every summer. I camped out for a week up there before the park staff noticed me.

Nothing here in Winston, we need the rain/snow to come up from Atlanta way to get anything, always too dry here when something is coming.

Yes - a true Charlottean and NC native knows that 90% of the time when we (Charlotte) get significant snow accumulation is when it comes up from Atlanta first.

I don't have to work today and I'm about to go walk my dog. It's fuging 60 degrees outside.

I don't know what y'all have been looking at... it is coming up from the south!!

So it looks like the storm is tracking west of where the models had it.  More snow for charlotte.  Plus it looks like the coast is going to get screwed with mainly an ice/rain/freezing rain event.

Looks like I won't be changing my name to Mrs. Nesbitt.  Sorry New Bern.
