Something Cam needs to work on this offseason

Anddddddd this is way some of us cared about Cam's play yesterday. This is why some of us got mad when AJ dropped that deep ball, Cameron dropped that jump ball and Dez dropped the slant. Because we knew someone would try and use Cam's play in the PB against him.

Cam makes the pro bowl 2 out of 3 years and there's threads about him throwing the ball to high on screen plays and what he needs to work on based on his pro bowl performance. Cam easily could have been MVP if his team didnt let him down.... Again.

BUT BUT BUT I WUZ PROMISED NOBODY CARED ABOUT THE PRO BOWL GUYZ!!!!1!!!1!  ;)

hopefully we'll get some pro-caliber guards and he'll feel comfortable stepping up

Wait just a fuggin' minute here... you mean to tell my the dynamic combo of Wharton/Scott/Chandler were letting pass rushers get in Cam's face straight up the gut?

Next thing you'll be telling me is that its gonna snow in Atlanta.

I don't think it's as big of a problem as some make it out to be. I've seen a lot of the so called "elite" passers miss on a few throws every game.

Sometimes a lot of inaccurate passes are masked by a great reception. Cam hasn't gotten that benefit in 2 years. I also would like to point out that stats show a clear picture when Cam has a bad passing game. If Cam is sacked or pressured 5 or more times. He usually has a bad passing game. But people will complain about his foot work. When it was obvious that he was being pressured and hit all game. And that messes with every QB'S footwork and accuracy.

Watched Kaeperdick throw a pass to Crabtree 3 feet over Crabtree's head in our playoff game.

Crabtree caught the ball.

Crabtree caught the ball.

And I can name a few other plays like that. Where a perceived passer gets bailed out by a great catch on a inaccurate pass.

Examples

Brees in the 2nd game threw a duck to high and Graham goes 10ft and gets it.

Brady throws a hopper to Gronk and Gronk catches it at his shoe strings. Then takes it in for a TD and nobody talks how terrible that pass was.

My biggest problem with Cam's sacks is they are drive stoppers. It happened against the 49ers, he took two bad sacks and we were out of field goal range. We've seen it happen regularly for 3 years. You can blame the line or the weapons all you want, the ball is in Cam's hands.

Here is what I would love to see, shorter sacks. They happen, it's part of the game, but don't put us in 2nd and 23. In that ATL game we sacked Matt Ryan 9 times but he was only losing 3 yards on several occasions. You can recover from that. We sacked him 9 times for 49 negative yards. If we can get Cam to step up and throw away or kneel it down we will give ourselves a shot.

The ball may be in his hands, but he can't do it all himself every play. You can't just erase every other variable going on in the game at that time to fit your narrative. Sorry.

If we want to cut down on the sacks, we need improved OL play, and receivers running quicker routes. Shula needs to consistently help his quarterback out more in the play calling when the defense is bringing a lot of pressure, it was an issue throughout the season.

Mr. Newton needs to bring down those high balls. This is his fourth year, absolutely no excuse!

Gotta love it when fans use the phrase "No excuses". Like it is an affront to their sensibilities when players aren't perfect.

I am pretty sure Cam will just dink off all off-season and not work on his game. He probably feels like he is good enough now to get by on just his talent. I mean afterall, we did win 12 games this year. Sarcasm, in case you missed it.

Cam and Derek spent more time at the facilities than anyone not a coach. They did everything within their power to get Cam to the next level. I am positive they will continue to work, cuz they both want Cam to reach his potential. Which is also why I believe Derek will be resigned. He is Cam's right hand man. And IMO, he is worth every penny he is getting.

It's hard to critique a guy who broke records his first 2 years passing and running but there is one other thingI wish he would reduce some...overthrows.  He is big and tall and it seems has difficulty getting the ball down at times. More likely to get tipped interceptions instead of just keeping it down.  With that said, the TD to Hixon was a hell of a throw.
