Hardy, Florence, Bell, Olsen & Wharton can go ~

Whenever someone raves about a defensive player because of their sacks and then I look at how low their tackle numbers are, I laugh. Tackles and sacks show how complete the player is. Hardy has both.

Greg Hardy could go either way. If not signing him would give us room for a big deal (ie. like signing Andre Johnson if the Texans cut him loose), fine, but we need to keep him otherwise. His value is great as a pass rusher but he's also the best run stopping lineman on the team. He has 120 tackles over the past two years and the vast majority of those are from run stopping.

 

Cutting Olsen would be beyond stupid. He's Cam's legitimate #2 guy, and he fits the #2 possession receiver card to a 't'. If we let him go Cam loses his safety net and has to hope Steve Smith at age 35 can play like he did a decade ago.

 

Cutting Wharton would be dumb because that breaks up our tremendous left side line... put Amini in at RG, draft or bring in a solid RT and we've got a great line. Bell and Florence can go for all I care.

Hardy, Olsen, and Wharton were all rated in the top 10 at their position. Florence was one of the most successful corners when thrown against. Sheesh,

You need to value the players based on how much money they make. Hardy cost probably way too much to keep when other positions need upgrading. He might also be slightly overrated with as you said half his sacks came in 2 games and he disappears in some games. 

 

You can't be serious.  I don't think any defensive lineman on the Panthers consistently made plays this year more than Hardy.  He did more than make sacks (which he led the team in).  If you want to talk about Charles Johnson disappearing I might agree.  But not Hardy.  Clearly, you didn't watch a single game this year.

I really dont get the logic in the whole Hardy sack argument. He had 15 out of 16 games on the season so was he supposed to get 1 a game to justify him not being overrated?? I swear people come up  with the stupidest stuff to try to discredit a player.
