Hardy, Florence, Bell, Olsen & Wharton can go ~

Probably not popular opinion around here - but hear me out...

 

Hardy-

Had 1/2 his sacks in 2 games.  I didnt think he 'showed up' every game.  He is good..I LOVE him..awesome personality and scratch that..very good.  I just dont think he's worth the $$ some other team is going to pay for him and I don't want us to spend it.  I also think he has been 'so' good because CJ95 has been on the other side.

 

Florence-

I haven't seen a lot of talk on this guy, I just keep seeing him blow by Kaperdick on his TD run.  I am not impressed with him at all.

 

Bell-

Not sure anything needs to be said.

 

Olsen-

Another great guy.  GREAT hands.  He has NO YAC though unless the few times Newton catches him in stride at full speed.  Too often its catch, turn butt to the goal line hugging the ball and being tackled.  Just because he's one of 2 (?) Newton's options in the passing game shouldn't have us keep him.

 

Wharton-

Another guy thats just so-so.

 

 

Anyway - these just are overrated and/or under impress.  Keep moving the bar forward and get away from mediocrity or settling.

Hardy's versatility on the line will make him hard to replace, he can virtually play anywhere on the line consistently well. He also plays against the other teams LT every game, who is usually better than the RT that CJ goes up against, because of that reasoning I don't believe his success has tmuch to do with CJ, our defensive tackles helped both of them out evenly.

So while most of us agree that Cam needs more weapons, you propose that we cut the team's leading receiver.  That is an interesting perspective to say the least.

You need to value the players based on how much money they make. Hardy cost probably way too much to keep when other positions need upgrading. He might also be slightly overrated with as you said half his sacks came in 2 games and he disappears in some games. 

 

Florence Wharton and Bell are all cheap. They are clearly worth more to the team than what they are getting paid. 

 

It is actually kinda scary to think what the offensive would look like if we take away the number 2 receiver in Olsen. He is worth his contract.

Florence is a good veteran presence in the secondary, and I'd bring him back if he comes cheap to coach up and unify a secondary that will be loaded with rookies and young FAs. His value in the locker room well outweighs what he can do on the field.

Olsen is a must. He is the safety valve Cam needs when the WRs aren't open, or taking forever to go through Shulas long developing plays. And on third down he is reliable as the sunrise.

The rest we can lose.

None of those guys are going anywhere unless the retire (well except Hardy)

Bell is playing for pennies and is good depth at worst.

Florence brought continuity and leadership to this secondary. If he returns for his previous rate happy to have him back. Luke missed the tackle on the same play? Want to cut him too?

Wharton was a very nice surprise from the scrap heap, was cheap, and has chemistry with the line. He got blown up by one of the best defenses in the league. If he wants to come back let him. Stick him at RG and teach Kugzilla how it's done.

Olsen? Lol. That is absolutely ignorant. He's a top 15 TE in the league who has fantastic character and great chemistry with Cam. So what if he doesn't get YAC. He gets open. Which is more than most our receivers.

Hardy is an animal. The man is just now entering his prime. I understand it's a business but if money was no issue it wouldn't be a question he'd be a part of the core.

Olsen has probably been a top 6 TE in the league.  He's been awesome for us.  He has bailed out Cam a couple times on some throws.  He's a must keep for us to continue offensive success
