Trade Up or Trade Out

On that draft simulator game I've had a lot of success trading down. I'm sure that's exactly how it will play out in May, so I say trade down.

Tiny Richardson or Jordan Matthews in early/middle second round would be a great first pick.

I wouldn't move at all, but since your question only has the two options I wouldn't be against trading down for more picks.

I don't see Gettlemen getting into the wheeling and dealing mode.  I think he is going to stay the course, going with the board and BPA.  Trading suggests you are looking for certain positions.

 

People who trade up usually take the player higher than where he would have normally gone--makes sense.  I think Gettlemen wants to sit tight and wait for a quality player to slip through the cracks to him.  He said that he could not believe Star fell to him (nor could I) and he said that Short had a first round grade with them (going into 2013 he was the highest-rated DT-he played far too many snaps at Purdue.).

 

Kugbila is the only pick that may have been a reach.  I get the idea that the coaches were pushing that one.  Regardless, he is a high reward, low risk pick in the fourth round.  Then Klein was there in the fifth--another talent that fell to him, and Barner is the scat back Rivera has always wanted and a solid player at Oregon who was sitting there in the sixth round.  Obviously, taking a RB was a BPA pick.  I expect him to grab another RB this year late in the draft.

 

It is too early to tell, but DG, with 5 picks and NO 3rd rounder, had one of the best drafts in Panther history if Kugbila and Klein become starters, and they might.

FYI, there isn't much cap savings from the late first to the early 2nd round. Last year's 32nd pick had a cap hit of 1.2 million. The 33rd pick had a hit of about 1 million.

I fr one would love to see them trade back and get some more picks.  28th isn't a great spot...would rather give it up for a 45 and 55 and take our chances.  There is still a ton of talent at those spots.  Esepcially now that good good RB's are regularly found at those levels.

I never love staying put.  I like GM's that make moves so we can see his thought process.  Its like the guy who never trades in FF.  Cause he ain't thinking.
