Trade Up or Trade Out

Recommended Posts

Trading up has to be worth it. There has to be a cant miss talent that fits a need. This season happens to be one of those seasons. Sammy watkins would revolutionize our offense instantly. He is that franchise changing talent. He would be what star was to our defense and maybe more. This guy is 6'1 205 and ripped. He can be our number one wr instantly not to mention he can take snaps out of the back field as a rb and kr. Watkins showed up to train for the draft with his trainer and ran his first timed 40  after which his trainer said i have nothing else to teach you your done training. I'm sold.

Am I certain that Sammy Watkins is going to be a Top 5 WR, in short order? No, so that probably prevents him from earning the "Elite" grade from me, but I can tell you he's an extremely good wide receiver who is going to make a sizeable impact from the moment he steps on the field until the end of his contract (barring injury). While he's not my top prospect in the class, Watkins' ability makes almost no pick in the draft too much of an investment. -Draftmecca

No way Gettleman trades up. Do people not remember his comments about teams calling looking to move up into our pick last year during the draft, and him laughing?

At the time we were busy watching star fall into our laps.

I wouldn't have traded down either.

Gettleman doesn't believe in trading down and loading up on lesser talent.

I don't imagine we do much of either during his tenure here.

"If I have a dollar, I’d rather have the dollar than the three dimes. That’s all there is to it... when you trade back, you can think you’re smart, but there’s no guarantee, there are none... Why talk yourself out of somebody good, ‘Oh I’m going to be clever.’"
