Trade Up or Trade Out

Alrighty, let's say the Panthers aren't content to pick at 28 and are looking to move from that spot. Which would you rather see them do: trade away additional draft picks in order to move up and snag one of the top talents in the draft, or trade back to pick up additional draft picks but miss out on the first round entirely?

Oh I think there's no chance that the team actually moves one way or the other.

I'm just asking what the average Huddler would want to happen.

If there's not a guy who we think is a cornerstone player at OT, WR, or CB on the board at #28, we should be actively trying to trade down. Fug trading up.

Jacksonville Jags will trade down from their #3 overall pick and pick up somebody's 1st rounder and extra draft picks.  If they only drop about 6 or 7 places, they'll likely pick Bortles out of UCF.  If he's not available when they pick, they'll go BPA (probably an OT).

 

Then the Jags will trade UP with the Carolina Panthers, sending Carolina their 2nd round choice (7th choice of the 2nd round) and their 3rd round choice (6th choice of the 3rd round) for Carolina's 1st rounder (28th selection) and 4th rounder.  With that pick, Jacksonville will select Dee Ford, DE/OLB, Auburn.

The result will be that Carolina will have two choices in the 2nd round (7th and 28th selections of the round) and two choices in the 3rd round (6th and 28th selections of the round).

The only two players I would trade up for are Greg Robinson and Sammy Watkins.  But I don't think either fall into the teens and trading up into the top ten might be (WILL BE) too pricey.
