I think basically people just cant understand the different life style signing a 40 million dollar contract can bring to you. 125k is like spending 100 dollars to them. It's not like he does this every day. Hardy on his 6th round rookie contract bought a bentley no one on here called him a idiot. Let the man live.

Pretty sure people called Hardy an idiot then....

and most of these guys don't receive there "contract" figure.....only a fraction of that. 125k isn't like a 100 bucks when looking at most players.

That "lifestyle" you boast people don't understand is why 78% of NFL players are broke in their 30s.

78% of those people arent making the 40 million.i bet a large part of those who go broke are the sutton's and hortons who never make big contracts and are never really secure. Say he doesn't get all of that contract say half 25 mill. which is still more than 99% of us will see in our life time. Even if he's only left with a million that is more than most people will make. Those are the extreme cases you hear about im sure most players the decent ones have some kind of fallback. I think players like at worse own a car dealership when they are done.

There are some pretty wealthy/rich folks on this board. I am hoping to be there in a couple of years. Who knows.

Whatever my wealth is, it is difficult to fathom spending such a percent of my net worth on watches.

But that is his business and his money. I get the feeling he will not be in the Observer business section in 2015

Godfrey didn't make 25 million this year. He won't see that 25 million overall here. Likely just close to the guaranteed 12.5. Most of which he already got from 11-12. They tax that too like a mofo.

Technically, I think Godfrey actually received 1.7 M as a Panther this year. So what is 125k of 1.7M (again, that money is taxed not take home cash) seems like a better question. Both leave out lots do other things though.

Again, this is all hypothetical since Godfrey says it is all false. But he can spend 5 million on cars if he wants....his money.

Cheap, high quality watches?

Breitling Emergency 2, and Casio Pathfinder. But then again the Breitling has two emergency transponders built in and the Casio has compass, temp, barometer, altimeter, and is solar powered. I like to be outside.

Not really. Unless they are very rare they don't appreciate in value at all.

There are MUCH smarter investments out there to be had if that was what his intentions were.

I have a Seiko gold nugget watch that's worth more than double---perhaps 3X---it was when my wife bought it roughly 18 years ago for $400.

    • Start with Bryce, this is like his rookie year. The 1st 2 games proved her was wired wrong and it looks like (we hope) he needed a time out to reset and be the player that was drafted. He's still about a year or more away from being a top 15 QB, if the Panther give him another playmaker or 2 (a top WR and a decent TE) and maintain that line. Canales deserves credit as playing that card correctly to motivate (or refocus) his QB for one last shot to decide his and the Panthers immediate future. As a Panther fans we should hope he keeps improving as we invested so much to get him. CJ Stroud will never have a season like he had, even if he stays a top 10 QB. He's got great character so I'm rooting for Bryce to continue on his positive journey. Canales is playing the week to week thing with bryce perfectly. Nothings guaranteed, earn it weekly which builds consistency and consistency is greatness.  Keep the O-line. They've got to extend Brady C, along with Mayes that have a real good 7. Great job Morgan starting with the big guys upfront.  I really hope they draft a DE or OLB in the 1st round. Getting Brown back with A Robinson and what DJ has shown that we can have a decent D-line. Need a CB in the early rounds/ or a time FA to go with Horn.  The future as to next year being good enough to challenge for the division is within reach. Just show progress (win or lose) every week. Kudos to Dan Morgan. Plays GM like a LB. Tackle the problem and move on, don't just hope it works out. Find guys with your playing mentality and work closely with your HC to share a vision. Teamwork starts at the top and flows down.
