Walter football latest mock-Robinson

I've been a little more partial to Matthews than Robinson due to his production and bloodlines. That said, I wouldn't have a problem taking Robinson @ 28. Based on what I've read here, he appears to have more speed and athleticism, although Matthews is the more polished WR. I would definitely take Robinson if we were also able to sign Nicks in FA, as Nicks and Matthews appear to be more possession type WR. Robinson could be a potential replacement for Smitty if he has the speed to stretch the field.

I like Robinson.

I hate walterfootball.

shame on you for rotting your brain with that mush.

Beauxjangles made a good post last year about what a joke that site is seen as by the scouting community. mentioned that scouts cant stand the guy who runs it for running around acting like he has some real involvement with the sport and the scouting process. talked about how the guy had no real sources, etc etc.

that site generates hits because it has a new mock up every week and has like a full draft mock by like the first week of february. its nothing more than a fan site run by a fan and his opinion is no more or less valid than yours or mine.

I do like Robinson, though. Just tossing that in there.

I also hate Walterfootball.  Site is no better than most Huddle Threads.

I don't visit his site.  I just wait on other Huddlers to start a thread about what he said and then comment on it.  I refuse to give that hack hits on his site.

I'm a big fan of Robinson. I've watched all the games being a PSU grad. Speed has always been his the biggest knock. I've also noticed that while he rarely drops the ball, there is some wasted motion at the catch point as he's making sure he makes the catch. The athleticism and ability is certainly there though. I'm curious to see his official numbers (height, weight, hands, 40), but he's a favorite of mine at 28.

Since so many hate Walter (I'm no "fan" either), it is pointless to create another thread, but he does have Robinson again- http://walterfootball.com/draft2014_1.php

I personally think it's setting up beautifully on January 28 since I want to give our Cam a matchup nightmare TE and few nationally are talking about it.  Here's hoping F-Bombs galore in Boston and Seattle when they look at these mocks for three more months then GMan turns in the Ebron/Amaro/ASJ card in May.

Here's a good breakdown of his game in my opinion:

http://www.steelersdepot.com/2014/01/2014-nfl-draft-player-profiles-penn-state-wr-allen-robinson/

Highlights the positives and negatives pretty well.

Great find.

But, this really just prove to me that I was correct on Robinson.

(Dave Bryan)

"The Bad"

-Doesn't always use his size to his advantage

-Not always under control

-Not a burner

-Has problems getting separation on deep routes at times

-Tends to want to body catch too much

-No consistent red zone production; "only 1 TD"

-Upright too often and tips off break down

"While he did have a handful of WOW catches, I really was expecting more. I count 18 receptions in 2013 of 20 yards or more and I am willing to bet a good deal of those were screens or slants and not catches 20 yards past the line of scrimmage. It should also be noted that he only had one red zone touchdown catch in 2013. A player with his size should obviously have more. He is a willing blocking blocker, but doesn't give maximum effort all the time when doing it"

Im really asking myself if I was the one who wrote this article. I pretty much read my own description of Allen Robinson.

Everything listed and said of Robinson there just backed my opinion on Robinson being the one out of this class with the most potential to "bust". The kid is still "raw" and I just cant see his game translating well into the pro, or at least not anytime soon.

Robinson to me is a cross between our great Brandon LaFail and Cordarrelle Patterson's explosiveness (not SPEED). Robinson is too big of a receiver that he's not going to get away in the pro through the screen game especially with not being the fastest guy.

Huge fan of Walter here, but not a fan at all on Robinson. TE wouldnt be my first option but I'd def take one before taking Robinson.

^Truth be told I enjoy visiting his site, and his pre-draft mock last year wasn't THAT off.  But he's an acknowledged Cam hater, which is why I'm not a fan.  For an elite WR, OL, DB, I would rather go that direction, but we are picking #28 afterall, so I feel the TE will be the best pick.  Truth be told I think I like ASJ more than Ebron or Amaro.  I have watched a lot of highlights recently and it's hard for me to believe he'll even be there at 28.  He's a freak and there's a reason he was a mid-first/first TE taken projection before the DUI/disappointing season.

I'm pretty sure ASJ or Amaro will be there at 28. Amaro is a better pass catching TE, but ASJ is the better all around player. The man is a nasty, physical blocker (GOD DAYUM!).

I hate to take a TE at 28 when WR and OL are such huge needs, but I would not mind especially if we can land a receiver like Nicks in FA. Make it short, I just dont want us anywhere near Allen Robinson. I thought that I might be missing something on the kid but the article posted above just proved to me that I am 120% correct. I'm not saying the kid wont be good tho, just not worthy at 28.

P.S.

Just admit that you like Walter. You dont have to say that you dont just bc 5 huddlers say the dont like it. I guarantee that "Walter" and "BleacherReport" are the two top sites that most fans go to. I know I do.

^ Yes, yes, yes!  Amaro is a poor man's Jimmy Graham and I believe ASJ is Gronk Version 2.0.  None of the four are choir boys but so what (I recall some even question Amaro punching an opponent)?  Certainly neither were 1st rounders but obviously would be in a redraft!  I am giddy with either at 28. Shockey was no choir boy either!

Walter called Cam a "douche".  Direct quote.  I laughed when I read it because it was in a funny context, but I can't like a guy that calls Cam a douche.  I don't dislike him though and enjoy his site most of the time, how's that?  Haha

I think Robinson is a poor mans Jerry Rice.  Don't want to compare anyone straight up to Rice.

Rice was not a burner, at all, but did get separation across the middle and had great balance, catching ability and YAC.  Great career even though not the fastest guy on the field
