Like I said you're not telling me anything I dont know already. You're giving me the same analysis that I can get off a draft site.

 

Matthews has everything Robinson have and everywhere I look, Robinson is projected a couple spots higher. I just dont get it.

 

If we want an explosive receiver, I'd go with Odell Beckham or Jarvis Landry. Other than height, both guys imo does everything much better than Robinson. Not just that, Landry is a physical blocker.

 

 

Landry isn't explosive at all. He's a great receiver, but a one speed guy. Robinson is a physical specimen, he has a physicality that Matthews does not have and I think he will run faster. Matthews is the more polished receiver, very smooth, but I think that Robinson has an extra gear and an aggressive mentality with the ball that Matthews will never have.

A few things I saw from some cut ups. He's a great route runner, gets separation. Good after the catch, he wins at the catch point which we don't have a receiver who can really do that.

But, just going back and looking at two cut ups (2012/2013), this was what I got:

 

 

Good, but somewhat an average game vs. Virginia 2012. I thought that he didnt really get separation throughout the game. Robinson beated the dbs for a TD, but both dbs bit on the McGloin's ugly pump fake. Also, he dropped an easy TD pass.

 

 

A much improved Robinson I see here. Saw very good route running and better hands extending to the ball. Robinson got better separation and showed the ability to go deep. Showcased vertical range to catch the ball at the highest point.

 

If this "Robinson vs. UCF" is the one that you get, sign me up. Dont sign me up for the Robinson vs. Virginia.

 

My only problem with Robinson is that I still see a lot of "screen" plays from the UCF game. It's good that a WR of his size is able to make those kind of plays, but I just dont see that happening in the NFL. He has to run the full route tree.

Mathews is no where near elusive or explosive as Robinson. Much more upside. 

 

Thats why every mock will have Robinson going before Mathews. And in the end why Robinson will be off the board before Mathews. 

 

Mathews projects as a good - great #2. Robinson can become a game changing #1 WR in the league.

Too keep it very simple, and I've watched almost all the cut ups on both guys. Robinson is a better athlete. Although Matthews may be more polished I think Matthews as hit his ceiling. Robinson could end up being a bust, but he definitely can become a number 1 based on his athleticism.

His TD grab against UCF was really nice and that's the type of play a guy like Robinson can make where as I don't think Matthews has the athletic ability to do that

Dont get me wrong. I might have used the term "explosive" wrong on Landry here. You're exactly right. He's a one speed guy. What I meant is that he still have the ability to run after the catch. Very different receiver. Think Victor Cruz play making ability with Landry.

 

Robinson is faster than Matthews by about a tenth. 4.3 to Matthews' 4.4. Robinson will run faster than Matthews at the combine and is faster on tape. But, Matthews has better hands and still have play making ability after the catch. By Matthews being "polished" (what you see is what you get) is why I believe he is projected below Robinson.

 

If I have to choose one, I'll go with Matthews just bc he's a sure thing compared to taking a risk on Robinson. Both guys had productive college careers and possess good size. I'm going to compare them to a very different receiver in Alshon Jeffery, but at that size their not even close to Jeffery. I want a guy that can use their body as advantage and adjusts well to the ball like Jeffery. They cant give me that.

 

I think that Robinson can be a Brandon Marshall type, not Colston if he really get it together.

ASJ is a great blocker as well as reciever where Amaro lines up mostly as a WR and misses a ton of blocks..we got that guy already in Olsen.

I've been a fan of Robinson for a while, but I think Watkins, Evans, Robinson and Lee will be gone by #28, think Benjamin will go late 1st to early 2nd. My biggest riser by draft day is Martavis Bryant out of Clemson, guy is raw, but I think he ends up going in the same range as Benjamin. Wouldn't mind taking Robinson/Mattews/Benjamin in the 1st, then Bryant/Moncrief in the 3rd if he doesn't rise.

 

My hope is I can work the same mojo as last year and my early mancrush, both in October, will fall to us like Star did last year. Mike Evans.

I have not watch a full game on Robinson. Have only watched highlights of the kid on youtube. I was not impressed and came away with nothing. I really want someone to explain to me why the kid is so highly thought of. And, please be someone who have actually watched several full games of Robinson. Not someone who just getting their info from draft sites; stuffs that I already know of.

 

So your arguement is that you don't really know what you are talking about related to Robinson because you never watched him play....but you are not impressed with him.  Brilliant.

 

I can tell you this.  I watched at least half the PSU games the past two seasons (wife is a PSU grad).  Robinson is an incredible WR.

 

Runs great routes...makes the difficult catches...steps up huge when his team needs a play.  I watched him regularly carve up secondaries.  He is a deep threat and makes huge plays with YAC.

 

Guy is a legit and explosive WR.
