That's some bullpoo.

Must be a McCrory backdoor deal.

I believe they built or building warehouse around Winston-Salem so now they have a hub in the state and they required to charge sales tax because they no longer out of state business.

Amazon used to be based in California so they only charged sale tax in California... now they have hubs in 20-25 different states and they charge sales tax in all these states.  I'm not sure if their business module will payoff... they want to increase delivery time and convince by charging more... poo, there's walmart on every corner, I can just drive there and get it if it costs the same.

Yeah, same here.  I first got prime for the benefits as I was finishing up undergrad.  You couldn't beat the prices on there a few years back.  Now, there aren't many items I've bought off there that I couldn't find cheaper elsewhere.  This tax only makes it more obvious...  That sucks.

SC tried this when they built a distribution center here.. Amazon got tons of free land tons of tax consessions but Wal Mart tried to block it bc of the unfair practice of no taxes.

Amazon threatened to pull out of the deal bc the no tax thing is sacred to them.

Wally world pulled some deal with the ever purchasable loyalty of the NC government apparently.

Of course this no tax on internet purchases is coming to an end eventually...

It's already like that in West Virginia. Add that to the fact that you now have to spend $35 to get free shipping on items, and the recent overall increase in shipping costs (it's $4 to ship a fuging DVD) and it equals me shopping on Ebay a lot more frequently now.
