Is a lack of receivers really the problem?

It's a little bit of everything, but I'd like to see Cam get a "jump-ball" target like many other QB's have that he can just heave the ball to when things break down.

He's got a quick release and a cannon for an arm, but he doesn't have a big target that can consistently win on a 50/50 type pass.

It may not be "The" problem but it is definitely the longest tenured problem facing our roster over the last 5-7 years. Every half-hearted attempt to throw bodies at the position have either failed miserably(D.Jarett) or given below average to average production(Lafell). We can't mortgage the future for one position like the falcons or redskins but we can make WR a top priority. Getts will get his man, and we will be better for it. I'm fully confident in our GM.

Definitely a combination of OL, and WR.

We don't really have a guy that can just go up and get the ball either, Cam has very little room for error when passing.

Great point.

When Crabtree made that grab over White on that 3rd down 2weeks ago. I thought to myself when was the last time I saw a Panther WR make a catch like that. And I can't remember one in the last 2years. Since Smitty went up over the Saints and caught that ball.

Cam has truly had no margin of error. Either the ball is placed perfectly or it won't be caught. I haven't seen a 1 hand or fantastic catch by a panther WR in 2 years now. Some QB'S get 1 or 2 catches like that in every game.

I completely agree. If we can get Cam a speedy guy who is 6'4+, watch out.

it's not all clearly a black and white answer, some games wr's had trouble getting open(Saints), other games we had protection problems and some instances Cam held the ball too long not looking for check down wr's.  It's really hard to know because Cam bailed us out so often with his legs.  We may not know the real problems, but I'm sure with the access to game tape, the FO/coaches know.

Cam prove to me this season that he can truly reach top 5 QB level if we give him just a few more weapons. He doesn't need 3 elite rec. Target's but add 1 W big time WR to what we have and their is no telling what this offense can do.

Like I said we need to get at least 1 wr in FA and 1 in the draft. Resign Ginn and move Smith to the Slot.

You know i've always been against drafting WR. So you know it's a problem if "I" want to bring at least 2 and maybe another TE or WR in.

Here is a better question to ask. What would improve the team more? WR or OL?

Scenario if we get 2 WRs - We have an slight improvement in offense. We probably score 3-5 pts more per game compared to last year

Scenario if we get 2 OLs - We have better improvement on offense. Run game avgs more yards and we see a similar benefit in the WRs we have. We score 5-7 pts more per game.

What do you think?

I often wonder what would have happened to our defense if say we drafted 2 CBs last year instead of 2 DTs. I feel we go from top 3 defense to top 15 just based on the weaker pass rush. What I realize is that pass rush is the most important element in defense. You cant give the QB time to throw or he is going to hit every target.
