The real issue is Beats headphones suck.  99% marketing 1% quality.  

 

I don't know much about headphones but I have heard that from everyone who has any knowledge on the subject.

There are videos on YouTube of people testing Beats headphones against plain old $20 headphones.  The sound quality is just slightly better from Beats.  For $300 I would expect something better.
