Richard Sherman  allows the Seahawks to play a mutant man/zone hybrid

Oh, you want more football talk? Fine. Chris Brown gave the most thorough rundown of what the Seahawks are doing, but here's the bite-sized version: Seattle plays a Cover-3 defense, which means dropping three defensive backs into deep thirds of the field, where they're responsible for any receivers in their area. Typically, this requires defensive backs to sprint backwards into their zones, leaving the underneath soft for easy throws short.

With the Seattle corners, and especially Sherman, though, they are trusted to play tight at the line. They are supposed to recognize if a receiver is going forward with their first step, and if they are, stay with them in tight man right from the line of scrimmage. So you get, effectively, a zone scheme that has man coverage in places where the holes are supposed to go. This will be important against Denver, which likes to run its receivers up the sidelines, where Manning can hit them in stride in the soft spots of zones. Which, god, who doesn't want to see Richard Sherman: Super Bowl MVP?

So Michael Jordan, and the rest of the superstars who have slugged teammates are all classless then? Richard Sherman's brother says Michael Crabtree tried to start a fight with Sherman during a charity event last summer.

The 49ers threw at Sherman twice on Sunday, once being the memorable play that saw the All-Pro corner break up a potential game-winning pass intended for Crabtree with 22 seconds remaining. After that, things got ugly. Sherman drew a penalty flag for giving the choke sign to Crabtree and called the receiver mediocre in various post-game rants. The antics have become standard for Sherman, but apparently there's some personal history here dating back to Larry Fitzgerald's charity event. The man is not a thug. This man is a fiery competitor. This man has class. Shame on the fans throwing stuff at Bowman and shame on the racists who are full of hate and abuse the free speech given to them on Twitter by men and women of all races including black Americans. So sad. "The thing I can’t accept is what I read after the game about Seahawks fans throwing food at 49ers linebacker Navorro Bowman as he was being carted off the field with his knee injury. If it’s true, it’s beyond terrible. That’s as low as it gets. I’m sure whoever did this is in a small minority of fans, because I don’t think that kind of action is an accurate representation of the character of the 12th man. Navorro Bowman is a great player who plays the game the right way. When he went down, I dropped to a knee and prayed for him. people using thug to describe a college grad is beyond retarded, half don't even know what a "thug" is.

 

Sherman Just became one of my top 5 fav players after this, the nfl would we too boring if it weren't for guys like him and steve smith. I see absolutely nothing wrong with his comments
