Giants letting Nicks walk!

All this he wants to come here etc how yall know this? Are there any quotes from him to say so? He will go where the money is like most players so I wouldn't expect him to come to carolina at all

Every year there is some player on the huddle that people clamor for simply because they know his name, but little else.

Last year it was Mike Wallace, and we see how that worked out for Miami.

Part of me wants Nicks...but ONLY if he comes on an absolute deal or short contract.

Gettleman obviously will be wary of why his old team doesn't want him back, he will know the dirty little secrets about Nicks, and he will seek out as much information from his old friends as possible to make the decision of whether to chase Nicks or not. I'll be happy if we sign him to a great deal for us, but it will be telling and acceptable to me if we don't go after him at all.

I've never heard of nicks being a problem in the locker room. You know he would like to come back home. In a perfect scenario, like some have said, we would sign him to a 3 yr deal. Draft our eventual #1 this year and have that guy learn the ropes from Smitty and Nicks. Let Lafell walk. Cam needs some weapons people. It's BS that he is entering year 4 with no kick ass weapons. (Love you Smitty)

I've read he loves New York and the giants and wants to stay there so I see no indication he wants to play in carolina or anywhere else and there's teams with am far more money available than us to offer him a good deal

Nicks might actually be ok with a 1 year deal, and I think that will show whether or nor he wants to work because I think the contract offers on the top side will be 3 mil a year.  So a "long term contract" of 3 years 9 mil, is that enough for him to sign, or would he rather a 1 year contract to reprove his value and then go after the big money yet again.  If he goes that route, I think for sure, he'll end up in Carolina because he won't be able to prove anything with the dumpster fire in Oakland or some of the other awful situations that I've seen as possibilities.

Good point. Let's just hope he doesn't get a ridiculous offer from somewhere.

It's not like Wallace was a bust in Miami.  He was overpaid for his production.. but Wallace woulda been the perfect fit for Cam.

We just never could have afforded him.

And I don't think we'll be able to afford Hicks, either..

This seals it. Talking about how he is one of the top receivers in he league while his team is losing, can't stay healthy, arrogant. Keep him away from this team. He isn't worth what he will be asking, you guys thinking he will sign for some kind of fair "show me" deal are living in a dream world.

whatever dude... these nice guys we have are not anywhere to be found when we need them on the field... this is why our offense sucks.... we can judge these players but at the end of the day even the most arrogant are still in the superbowl hunt today and we are sitting our nice guy, A'S at home watching. Drugs are one issue but all that written is the NYGs throwing him under the bus to justify their sucky season and to cut him. If we can move money to get him it instantly upgrades our offense and yes Steve Smith can be a legit threat again. Image what the score would have been last week with Smith on the field, just the nice guys that practice. Getting a late rookie wr will not make the difference we need next year. losing sucks, pre-judging is assumption. Instead of us getting smoked by the legit threats why not grab one?

how is this anything other than potentially great news? if we could sign him to a low-risk, incentive-laden deal with tons of escalators and replace brandon lafell with him we'd get, at worst, brandon lafell 2.0 and at best that deep threat big-bodied red zone target cam has been missing since coming to carolina.

if he'll take what he's worth from gettleman this could be one of the most savvy moves this franchise has ever made.

I'm not even reading all that drivel. I stopped at nice guys. Poor attempt at making this somehow about us only signing choir boys, which just isn't true. This is about acquiring players who have proven they can stay healthy, are a good teammates. He doesn't fall under that.
