Giants letting Nicks walk!

Eli Manning has won two Super Bowls, but so has David Carr. What is your point?

Very funny. Carr isn't good enough to start over Manning, so I'd say Manning is better, no?

Once again - I'm not arguing against signing Nicks. I just wouldn't break the bank for him, take him over Hardy, or take him over Andre Johnson.

We can't break the bank on anyone. I'm a defensive guy if all contracts were equal I take Hardy. I don't see Andre helping us any more than Nicks looking at the arguments here. For future sake I think it helps us more to take Nicks, where will we be in 3 years after taking two mid 30 aged receivers. Rebuilding our entire receiving core? At least with Nicks we have staggering ages especially if we can supplement with a young draft pick.

Both guys are big, physical receivers with great hands. Both guys missed the same number of games and had very, very similar production their first 5 seasons. Yet the huddle wants the expensive 33-year old, not the 26-year old who is cheaper. Not to mention he is a Super Bowl Champion with Smitty-esque playoff numbers.

I love this place.

I never said I wanted him over Nicks. In fact if you read through the Nicks thread you'd understand my view unlike the majority here  who don't want him.

Neither one of them are worth 2 shits.

Taking Johnson over Nicks would be a pretty stupid move.

He's 33 years old and has missed more games to injury than Nicks in the last 5 years.

Let's compare Carr's stats his 4 seasons with Andre to Eli's stats his last 4 seasons with Nicks.

Carr: 62.1% completions (1010 of 1626)

Eli : 60.3% completions (1336 of 2215)

Carr: 50 interceptions (3.1% INT rate)

Eli : 83 interceptions (3.8% INT rate)

Thanks for making another argument for signing Nicks.

No one knows for sure nicks gets a mega deal. After the down year he has had no gm in the league would offer a top FA contract to that. His value is lowered so now would be the time to get him. Especially with the gettleman connection. I'd love to have nicks and draft one of the top TEs or oline at 28. Possibly mixing that with trading hardy for a 1st rounder we'd be set

andre won't be expensive.

And I don't have to question his heart.

Andre hasn't missed a game last two seasons FWIW but I think AJ would be more of a short term fix...he is getting up there in age and yeah his health still is a concern despite not missing a game the last two seasons.

We want a guy who Cam can hook up with for years to come and get some good chemistry going on with. Nicks fits that mold better as he is only 26 but we would also likely couple a FA signing with a WR high in the draft. Get NICKS though.

Andre won't be expensive? If he doesn't resign won't it be because of how high his cap hit will be?

why would a 33 year old receiver that wants a ring be expensive?

He won't break the bank regardless who he goes to.

I find it amazing that most of the huddle would rather the team throw money at some whom has proven that his heart isn't in it, over a proven vet that is the definition of a pro's pro.
