Giants letting Nicks walk!

Gettleman said they had Short as first round pick and I think higher than Allen. I do think that Proehl wanted him, but you have to take the guy higher on the board and Short did fit a need.

yea i was saying earlier you dont pass on guy you have ranked #28 for a guy you have ranked #60 just because you need the position #60 plays.

Yeah the missing meeting definitely bother me too. But I trust gettleman so if he passes on nicks that confirms things and if he signs him, he probably knows something we don't as fans. Should be an interesting offseason anyway.

Same here, if we ended up fortunate enough to sign Nicks, I trust Gettleman did his due diligence prior to the signing and I doubt the Giants management would lead him astray.

I think I would like a guy who I'm going to pay like a #1 to have more than 0 touchdowns for the whole season.

i dont think he all-of-a-sudden became a sucky player after being a top 10 wr for two years, nobody was good on the Giants this year.  that said, i'd totally be welcome to James Jones who i think would be less expensive and is a very similar type of player

Agreed^

But maybe we could get him at a good price.. I know it wouldnt be cheap, but considering that he is not coming off of a great year and the fact that he may really want to come home..he might get paid like a low end #1 or might be a steal for whatever he ends up getting.  who knows what could be done to make something like that work?

We have all wanted better WRs. We have been saying it forever now.. Steve is not getting younger, and our offense needs most of the attention this offseason, so its easy to see why everyone is questioning a move like this.. Ive watched Nicks look dominant before, and it would suck to miss out if he regained form with a fresh start...especially if Gettleman still has reason to believe in his abilities.

Ultimately, Nicks or no Nicks, the wide receiver position is going to have to be solved via the draft. Hurney couldn't do it, let's hope Gettleman can.

I dont just want the #2,3,etc. spot solved though.. It would be nice to find Smitty's eventual replacement sooner than later. And I think if Nicks regained form, we could do that.

^Im sure this probably wont happen, but it would be a nice surprise.  It would be pretty nice to have someone that actually can draw coverages away from Smitty once in awhile..

Once again, I remind our fellow huddlers just how rare it is for a rookie WR to have an immediate impact. Since 1998, only two first round WRs have topped 1000 yards: Randy Moss and Michael Clayton.

We do need to draft WRs for the future, but that's a long term solution, not a quick fix.

Um. AJ Green? Even Keenan Allen recently who was a 3rd rounder.

Meh, how many rookie receivers have topped 1,000 yards period. It doesn't matter what round they were drafted in, and A.J just did it 3 years ago by the way too

We're thinking long term. Cam needs someone to grow with. A number 1 receiver isn't hard to ask for at all

This false idea that we can't find a WR to be a contributor in the draft is what has lead to us being forced to rely on a 35 year old receiver to be our main weapon. We have to take chances. Hurney couldn't draft one to save his life, hell he couldn't even get one via free agency to pan out long term. I believe Gettleman will change this soon.

You accuse someone of bias with zero evidence, and that's you rebuttal? Incredibly weak. Go back to lurking.

Time will tell.

I have a hard time believing that players Cooper has yet to meet who may end up as his teammates will be so understanding of the incident as you are. Whether you like it or not, it's a big deal. I'm honestly a little concerned for you that you feel the need to downplay it like this.

Your straw man arguments are getting so old soooo quick dude it's pretty sad.
