Giants letting Nicks walk!

Pantherman

Recommended Posts

If Nicks is going to get $5 million per, he can do it on another team. That $5 million would make him one of the highest paid players on the roster, and he's got too many question marks now to justify that kind of investment. I say a one-year deal for $3 million. If he doesn't bite, let him go elsewhere.

I think that the Panthers should give him 2 years 10 million and just let Lafell walk. He gets more than 1 years, and he can be back home. I think that he knew that Giants didn't want to pay him (missing workouts in offseason) and when their season went to tank, he tanked too. Stupid thing to do, but good for the Panthers.

Agree

I wouldn't mind a 3 year deal.

Who was advocating signing him to a big contract or that someone is out to get him?

Just as a hypothetical, would you be really upset if we signed him? Or would you then just trust your faith in Gettleman?

I also dont think anyone will need a suicide hotline...except maybe you.. You are trying as hard as anyone to make your point.

Are we not reading the same thread?

If we somehow signed him to a cheap contract, no, I wouldn't. That would also mean Gettleman got to the bottom of these reports from the Giants.

This idea that we will be able to sign him to such a contract is predicated on the idea that no other teams will be very interested in him and we will have all the leverage. I don't see things going down that way. Some people see things like they are playing Madden, others live in reality.

You make the irrational claim that the only way anyone would want Nicks is because of where he went to school. You name yourself "TheRed." When confronted with your irrational claims, you don't flatly deny collegiate bias. Instead, you just say you only watch a few games a year.

Regardless of who you support, let's not pretend that wasn't a reasonable assumption. There's obviously some sort of bias (of whatever kind) if you don't think Nicks is an upgrade over every WR on our roster not named "Smith."

Lurking? Mass suicides? What a drama queen! Please, let's try to elevate the level of discussion here. Let's avoid that kind of petty tripe.

We can't all have multiple accounts because we've been banned, take it elsewhere.

That's too much with his injury history, I think.

Getting a nr 1 WR for $ 5 million is bargain and we need to pay maybe a bit more because the need is big and relying on draft for WR is a crapshoot too. Nicks and drafting WR Matthews would be amazing for the team and Cam.

This seems different from what you were saying before.. You never really acknowledged his potential. I also think we are too cap challenged to get him, even though I would be excited if we found a way to make it work, and knowing that Gettleman believes in him.

Would you be upset if we signed him and it wasnt a "cheap" contract?

I can't quote on mobile app. But ace boogie point is absolutely correct. If we take allen in the 2nd in stead of short we would definitely be playing right now. People still want to defend not having weapons for Cam.

we held a workout for him, so we evaluated him and had a good idea of the shape he was in.  we didnt not draft him because we didnt think we didnt have a need at wr, we didnt draft him because we valued Short considerably more.  Allen had a good rookie year yes, that doesnt mean he would have had one here tho, systems, personnel all matter and play a part to a players success.  He was valued from a late first to a midsecond, he fell to the third, so that says all teams werent overly impressed with his workouts.  could very well be the injury situation, but the film from him at school said he was a playmaker.

See, that's what I'm talking about, "TheRed." You don't argue facts. You make it all about personalities. I'm not a lurker. I've never been banned. (Based on the tripe you post, it's a wonder you haven't been). Grow the hell up.

You can't post comments like "Hakeem Nicks can't play football," trash people who disagree with you as "biased" before resorting to name-calling and twisting their arguments, and expect anyone to respect your opinions.

If you R-E-A-D, you'll see I am not in favor of signing Nicks unless he comes at a reasonable price.

I've never said he isn't talented.

Yes, I would be upset in that case. We have limited cap room, and it only gets worse in the next few years with contracts like Stewart's. If we were going to mortgage our salary cap for a receiver I would rather he not have question marks about his health and team loyalty.

Gettleman said they had Short as first round pick and I think higher than Allen. I do think that Proehl wanted him, but you have to take the guy higher on the board and Short did fit a need.

Never underestimate desperate teams. Every year there is always one or two. I could see someone giving him a substantial contract.

The thing nobody wants to talk about in regards to Nicks, are these reports about fines by the team, and missing team meetings. It's a big deal if true, and Gettleman will certainly hear the full story. So the possibility of Nicks ending up here might be over before it even gets started.

Yeah the missing meeting definitely bother me too. But I trust gettleman so if he passes on nicks that confirms things and if he signs him, he probably knows something we don't as fans. Should be an interesting offseason anyway.
