Giants letting Nicks walk!

Pantherman

Recommended Posts

Let's see here.

We have AceBoogie of the Carolina Huddle, with how many years working in the nfl was it again? Oh, that's right, zero.

On the other hand we have Dave Gettleman with nearly 30 years experience in the NFL, from scouting, to personnel.

I think I will go with Gettleman.

come on now, don't you dare devalue the experience building dynasties on madden.

Second, theRed, don't let your wolfpack allegiance cloud your judgment. Nicks CAN help this team, if he comes at the right price.

Good grief, how many times do I have to spell it out. I have zero, zip, nada, none, no allegiances to any college teams. I research players for the draft, outside of that, and maybe a bowl game or two, I couldn't give two shits about college football most of the time.

I've seen Nicks play, I've also seen him often injured, and now apparently he can't even make his team meetings. Please stop with this paranoid pity party like anyone who does not advocate signing him to a big contract is just out to get him. It's laughable. He's a man. He's responsible for himself.

If the Panthers don't sign him, are we going to have to get a suicide hotline going around here on the Huddle? Looks like it.

TheRed: Reading.. It's fun-da-mental. Let's lay off the straw-man crap. It devalues everything else you say (of course, the content does that well enough on its own).

You come in here arguing that the only reason anyone would want Nicks is because he graduated from UNC (I still think you're BSing us on your NCSU allegiance, regardless of how many college games you watch). You claim that there will be mass suicides if he is not signed. That quite frankly is juvenile nonsense. No one is saying that. Virtually everyone here recognizes his recent struggles, and they're mostly excited because he could come here at a discount because of his struggles and because of the fact that Charlotte is his hometown.

You aren't skilled at evaluating anything if you think he's not an upgrade over every receiver we have on our roster not named "Steve Smith."

Like I said, and like everyone else has said, though, we don't want him if he doesn't come cheap.

Was it all him, or was it Chip Kelly's fast paced offense?

I'd hardly refer to a man at a country concert surrounded by all his white friends angrily calling a black man the n word "old news". It's going to follow him everywhere he goes, there are consequences for your actions in life, and quite frankly he got off pretty easy in Philly. It will matter.

All that matters is his stats. He will get paid solely for that reason.

It's old news in the sense NO ONE cares anymore. So many guys do dumb things in the off season and still get paid and play. Teams care only to a certain degree. At the end of the day it's a business. If you can help produce on the field you will be paid as such. End of story.

You accuse someone of bias with zero evidence, and that's you rebuttal? Incredibly weak. Go back to lurking.

Time will tell.

I have a hard time believing that players Cooper has yet to meet who may end up as his teammates will be so understanding of the incident as you are. Whether you like it or not, it's a big deal. I'm honestly a little concerned for you that you feel the need to downplay it like this.

Let's be honest Nicks having a not so good season was the best thing that could happen for us.

On another note I can't trust Nicks on a one year contract.

I highly doubt he is looking to sign just a one year deal. Players want to get paid, long term, and he's no different than anyone else.

I doubt any team is going to break the bank for him. HIs agent might recommend playing for one year with a contender who needs a number 1 receiving option to get his value up. The panthers might be able to get him cheap for at least one year.

Who was advocating signing him to a big contract or that someone is out to get him?

Just as a hypothetical, would you be really upset if we signed him? Or would you then just trust your faith in Gettleman?

I also dont think anyone will need a suicide hotline...except maybe you.. You are trying as hard as anyone to make your point.

Never underestimate desperate teams. Every year there is always one or two. I could see someone giving him a substantial contract.

The thing nobody wants to talk about in regards to Nicks, are these reports about fines by the team, and missing team meetings. It's a big deal if true, and Gettleman will certainly hear the full story. So the possibility of Nicks ending up here might be over before it even gets started.

I think that the Panthers should give him 2 years 10 million and just let Lafell walk. He gets more than 1 years, and he can be back home. I think that he knew that Giants didn't want to pay him (missing workouts in offseason) and when their season went to tank, he tanked too. Stupid thing to do, but good for the Panthers.

You make the irrational claim that the only way anyone would want Nicks is because of where he went to school. You name yourself "TheRed." When confronted with your irrational claims, you don't flatly deny collegiate bias. Instead, you just say you only watch a few games a year.

Regardless of who you support, let's not pretend that wasn't a reasonable assumption. There's obviously some sort of bias (of whatever kind) if you don't think Nicks is an upgrade over every WR on our roster not named "Smith."

Lurking? Mass suicides? What a drama queen! Please, let's try to elevate the level of discussion here. Let's avoid that kind of petty tripe.
